NBC to Racist Donald Trump: You’re Fired!

The future “greatest jobs president God ever created” just lost a job today. It seems calling Mexicans “rapists” doesn’t fly so well the American people, many of whom come from Mexican-American families.

Trump didn’t learn from the fallout. He went on CNN’s “State of the Union” yesterday and suggested that he misspoke. He actually thinks all undocumented folks of foreign origin are the problem.

But you have people coming in and I’m not just saying Mexicans, I’m talking about people that are from all over that are killers and rapists and they’re coming into this country.”

The curiously-coiffed reality star apparently doesn’t know how to use Google. If he did, he’d be aware that the net immigration from Mexico to the U.S. fell to zero in 2012.

Thankfully, his reckless comments have resulted in swift action. Univision, an incredibly popular Spanish language network, severed its ties to Trump and won’t show the Miss USA pageant. Although there may be nothing to show. The host already announced he was quitting, calling Trump a “clown.” Trump naturally threatened to sue Univision and banned its staff from his resorts.

Univision was undeterred and should be applauded for its leadership. Media giant NBC followed in its footsteps today, severing its ties to Trump and refusing to air the pageants. “The Celebrity Apprentice,” the charity-based reality show by United Artists Media Group that has heavily featured Trump, will continue without his participation. A plan was already in place for the show to go forward without Trump due to his presidential campaign.

Trump issued an uncharacteristically mild statement in response to the news he’d been dropped by NBC:

“Whatever they want to do is O.K. with me. I’ve had a lot of great relationships with NBC, I think as far as ending the relationship, I have to do that, because my view on immigration is much different than the people at NBC.”

Current polling shows Trump amid the top tier of GOP presidential hopefuls, despite being overtly disliked by huge swaths of the populace. Unless he withdraws from the race, Trump is expected to participate in the opening GOP primary debate.

Grab your popcorn, folks!

Good for NBC and Univision. People and businesses need to take a stand or this will continue.
