Paul Attackers Identified, One Was Campaign Coordinator

The story of the men who held down and physically assaulted a protester from MoveOn yesterday at a Rand Paul debate has become even more disturbing today, as we learn the identities of the attackers and their ties either to the Paul campaign or pet causes.  Plus, the victim of the attack claims that they knew who she was, and the attack was premeditated.

First, the man who wrestled activist Lauren Valle to the ground was identified as a conceal and carry advocate.  He was outed by other Tea Party members upset by his actions.  Via Gawker:

Last night, video emerged of a Rand Paul supporter wrestling a female protester to the ground and treading on her face. Today, gun advocate Mike Pezzano was outed as one of those men. Who revealed his identity? Other Tea Partiers. Meet Mike Pezzano, Rand Paul supporter and advocate for open carry gun laws. …Kentucky Tea Partier and blogger Lisa Graas figured out Pezzano’s identity by comparing still images from the Rand Paul brawl with photographs from other Tea Party events.

Next, the man who stomped on Valle’s head was revealed, and it was quickly discovered that he was a county campaign coordinator for Paul.  From Talking Points Memo:

Tim Profitt, a volunteer with the Republican’s U.S. Senate campaign, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the camera angle made the scuffle Monday night appear worse that it was. He criticized police for not stepping in and says other supporters warned authorities about the activist.

The Paul campaign cut ties with Profitt, removing him from his role as Bourbon County campaign coordinator and banning him from campaign events.

Profitt was close enough to the campaign for them to tout his endorsement in a newspaper ad, but apparently not close enough for anyone in the campaign to recognize from the multiple videos of the event.

Profitt claims it was only a small scuffle, no one was really hurt, and it was the  police’s fault. Valle, the victim, has spoken to a few reporters now about the incident and paints a more chilling picture — that not only did the people involved know who she was, but that the violence was premeditated.

Via Huffington Post:

I have been at a bunch of events before, the previous debate, and the Rand Paul campaign knows me and they have expressed their distaste for my work before. What happened last night was that about five minutes before Rand Paul’s car arrived they identified me and my partner, Alex, who was with me. They surrounded me. There was five of them. They motioned to each other and got behind me. My partner Alex heard them say ‘We are here to do crowd control we might have to take someone out.’

When Rand Paul’s car arrived a couple of them stepped in front of me so I stepped off the curb to get around them to get back out front. At that point they started grabbing for me and I ran all the way around the car with them in pursuit. The footage is after I’ve run all the way around the car and I’m in front of the car and that is when they took me down. One or two people twisted my arms behind my back and took me down… It was about two-to-three seconds after that that another person stomped on my head. And I lay there for 20 seconds or so and my partner Alex came and got me up and that’s the point where there is the media clip of me speaking.

According to Valle, an investigation is pending.

Irrespective of this fracas, I hope Rand Paul's elected.

Hmm... "open carry gun laws." I like that! As Robert A. Heinlein once remarked, "An armed society is a polite society."

Ali L.-Not every incident is covered. Are you saying that makes the incident that WAS covered invalid or justified? That their is a VAST conspiracy out to get you or your political cause? What I find interesting, is you trying to turn this away from acknowledging what DID occur and the people responsible (people of like political leanings, I presume).

Don't think I was clear.. The Rand Paul supporter was another person who was attacked at the event. Anyone see it or hear about it?

Anyone see the video of the Rand Paul supporter attack at the same event? Did you even hear about it? Interesting, isn't it.

I am not surprised, The republicans have been promoting this unrest for the past nine years. I am going to cancel all fox networks it is just twisted news nobody needs to hear. Nostradamus said that the people will consume them selves.
