Sen. Inhofe: The Bible Proves Global Warming Is A “Hoax”

Senator James Inhofe, a Republican from Oklahoma, has been calling global warming a “hoax” for years – that’s nothing new. However, he’s just written a book called The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future, and interviews with him regarding the book have been…interesting.

In an interview with Vic Eliason of Voice of Christian Youth America on Wednesday, for instance, he explained that his theory is “biblically inspired.” He claims that the idea that man-made pollution could affect the climate is “arrogance,” because, as we all know, only God can affect the climate:

Well actually the Genesis 8:22 that I use in there is that “as long as the earth remains there will be springtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night.” My point is, God’s still up there. The arrogance of people to think that we, human beings, would be able to change what He is doing in the climate is to me outrageous.

It gets better. He also attacked Rich Cizik, the former Vice President of the National Association of Evangelicals, an evangelical leader who’s fought against climate change. Cizik explained his religious reasons for fighting climate change on The Great Warming:

The climate change crisis that we believe is occurring is not something we can wait ten years, five years, even a year, to address.  Climate change is real and human induced.  It calls for action soon.  And we are saying action based upon a biblical view of the world as God’s world.  And to deplete our resources, to harm our world by environmental degradation, is an offense against God.  That’s what the Scriptures say.  Therefore, if we are to be obedient to the Scriptures, there is no time to wait, no time to stall, no time to deliberate.

According to Inhofe, these statements indicate that Cizik is a secret liberal who gave up “the truth about God for a lie.” He goes on to quote scripture he interprets as a Biblical slam against the environmental movement. If you think you can handle listening to Inhofe explain his “hoax” theory to a sympathetic audience, the full audio of the interview is available for download on VYC America’s website.

It is shameful how the Corpublican party uses religion to motivate its base. This issue has nothing to do with religion and yet they want to motivate their religious army to fight on behalf of the oil and coal industry to the detriment of their own health.

By promising to figth abortion the Corpublican party has obtained an army of chumps willing to give up anything as long as they are made to believe they are voting for God.

Global warming was predicted decades ago and is coming true in spades.

If there was money to be made by claiming the world was flat we woule be discussing that.

Inhofe is one of the worst legislators right next to Jim Demint. These men are not against global warming and climate change because they don't believe it is true. They are in the pocket of the oil and gas corporations who are the polluters and who fund the GOP to keep these liars in office. It is only the GOP that acts this way and there is no biblical truth to anything the GOP says or does. They are so dishonest and so bought by the worst of the worst that they will betray our health, our water, our air and they will not give a high ho that people will sicken and die because of their indifference.

John R. said "Just as every painting has a painterand every book an author, so has the creation a creator. The Bible proves itself by being historically accurate."

Historical accuracy, because it was WRITTEN BY HUMANS, not by any deity.

As for the "creation," even the Jews, by whom Genesis was written, will tell you that it is NOT LITERAL, BUT ALLEGORICAL.

And, no, every "creation" does not require a deity for its creation. To hold that is does is illogical, by way of being a recursive argument which requires that each creator must have a creator.

If I search the bible, with great intensity, I'm certain I could find a passage that tells me that Mr. Inhofe, is a hoax.

Ok, let's assume for a moment that God is up there, and he is in control. What if he wants us to fix this ourselves? Oh, wait, that's right. God does everything himself. Just my two cents but from where I'm standing he's neglecting a few things, Inhofe's ignorance would be one of them.
