Tacky Westboro Church Protests Jobs Funeral (via iPhone)

The tacky ways of Westboro church seem so cartoonish that at first they seem like a joke.  Then the realization that people are very very serious sets in.  They live for the publicity and their belief that “God Hates Fags” is a common slogan on a protest signs. Indeed, it is the church’s website (www.godhatesfags.com). And protesting at funerals is their idea of honoring God.

This church has conducted 46,635 demonstrations since June 1991, “at homosexual parades and other events, including funerals of impenitent sodomites (like Matthew Shepard) and over 400 military funerals of troops whom God has killed in Iraq/Afghanistan in righteous judgment against an evil nation.”

They also decided to protest at Steve Jobs’ funeral, which they announced (and this is the best part) on Twitter via iPhone. Fred’s daughter Margie tweeted:  “Westboro will picket his funeral.  He had a huge platform;  Gave God no glory and taught sin.”

When the irony of using Jobs’ own products to hate him was pointed out to her, she replied “God made the iPhone for this purpose.”

I don’t think this is what Steve had in mind when he asked us to “Think Different.”

It’s kind of comforting to know that his funeral was not made public.  It was held with dignity, sadness and his family on Friday, October 7th.  No tacky signs were in attendance.

The public is invited to share their memories and wishes to rememberingsteve@apple.com.

People preaching hate should not hide behind "freedom of religion."
Frankly all those saying what God wants are arrogant. They are creating a god in their image and not the other way around. Pitiful! What a small god they have created.

And shame on media for giviing them coverage.

It's an insult to call these pathetic human beings members of any religion or church. They're soulless and crass human beings who feed off people's pain whenever they can.

Thanks Kris G and Marg W. You have just proven me right not that I need anyone to do that for me. Religions promote hate.

Marg W. i think they "play their cards right" and know how to do what they do.
I want that power.
to have hate, snark, slander, "protest". I hope Obama gives me my pardon(or whatever I called it)
if they can sing about hating Jews, and doomed Iseral. then i should be able to make fun of vegnazis, lolicon fans, teen werewolves, down right idiots, kids who think being friends with celeberties will give them instant shoe-ins for careers in music/film/whatever.
or make a game where you shoot goths, emos and scene brats.

or make mean songs attacking what I deem dumb.

Kenny S, that "church" has less than 100 members. Why would you condemn millions of people for the actions of so few? I am a Christian, and I know that what they teach is completely against the Bible. We are not of the same religion.

Why can't these people be arrested for disturbing the peace, Trespassing or insiting hate? People get peppered sprayed for peaceful protests and jailed when they did nothing wrong but these people get away with it there is no justice in America!

Kenny S.Excuse me, you said religious types what ever that means.
