Tell Gov. Walker To Stop Disenfranchising Voters

As soon as conservatives rose to power after the November 2010 elections it became clear almost immediately they planned on using this rise to try and hamstring Democrats chances come November 2012.

Of all the power grabs, the pernicious spread of Voter ID bills is perhaps the most offensive.  Propped up by unsubstantiated claims of “voter fraud”, Wisconsin was perhaps the most aggressive in pushing through voter restriction measures, including Voter ID.  That includes Gov. Walker’s latest attempts at literally closing the polls on voters.

According to reports, the Walker administration is working on finalizing a plan to close as many as 10 officers where people can obtain driver’s licenses  in order to expand hours elsewhere and come into compliance with new requirements that voters show photo ID at the polls.  At least one Democratic lawmaker has noted the offices targeted for closure are all in areas that trend Democratic, while those offices with expanding hours reside in Republican districts.

The motive is so obvious as to be absurd: make it more difficult for Democratic voters to get the required ID to vote while making easier for Republicans.

The voters of Wisconsin deserve better, and you can help.  Sign our petition and demand that Gov. Walker and his administration ensure equal and fair access to the DMV for all Wisconsin voters.

Rolph P. it simply amazes me that people like you always call everyone else lazy.. As far as insurance goes you are so fortunate that that is all yours amounts to since you are self-employed. Many of these public service workers have done all of the right things such as an education and others with backbreaking work. However the subject was cheating in order to win elections. Those protestors were exercising thier right to freedom of speech and to protest, something that has been done since the founding of this country.

William G., You are so caught up defending the Republicans that you don't even read the story before offering up your usual brand of crap. Voter ID does not help the Republicans, closing the offices where people can get drivers licenses in ONLY Democratic ridings DOES.

Snot Walker's agenda is very clear, take away rights and opportunities for people to better themselves while kissing wealthy corporate ass.

Samuel G. you're absolutely right. Right now 1% of Americans have 90% of the wealth. Because of tax loop holes and subsidies, the wealthy pay a lower effective rate on their income than the middle class or many of the poor. The rate makes all the difference mathematically. If you compound the rate over decades, the wealthy will own almost everything in a few generations. Your grandchildren may not have the option of buying a home. If the wealthy own all of them, your grandchildren will be renting. But I think the American people will wake up before that happens. The Tea Party consists of a bunch of nuts that were bankrolled by the wealthy. They never cracked a book other than the Bible. They want bills that are 3 pages long. They probably want them written in crayon too. They're movement won't last, but everyone has to pay the price in the interim. So I say let's not reinstate the Clinton era tax rates. Let's reinstate the Eisenhower era tax rates, and even things out right now.

Very undignified. What do they do to prove they deserve the offices they hold, these Tea Baggers and new Crop of Republicans? Anything at all? Underhanded, devious, uneducated, ignorant, bigoted.....the lot of them!

Gov. Walker is Tea Party and all they care about is establishing a plutocracy to take away ALL our rights, so the rich rule the middle and lower classes.

We can stop them in their tracks by voting them out of office ASAP. We can also get a good laugh from their antics as we kick them out of power. Taking Conservatives Behind the Woodshed: It's a great laugh for under $3.

I am really sick of this guy and people like him. The people of Wisconsin voted for him, now it is up to them to vote him out. Not voting or not voting him out is acceptence.

Cutting spending on, so called, entitlements is ineffective for addressing the deficit. Cutting programs that support the low and middle class will further strain both who don’t even receive lower prices as a result of the U.S. job losses and create a disconnect that will end in another financial collapse. The justification for attacking government benefits as opposed to raising taxes is the creation of jobs. But where?

Corporations have over-powered our government which now believes that out-sourcing and off-shoring of U.S. jobs is inevitable and necessary with expectations that the middle class should fall on their swords. It is the underlying cause of the financial collapse and borders on national security with the loss of our middle class tax base. Yet, this nation does nothing, not even demand it be restricted by whatever method. International businesses are doing the UN-AMERICAN activity of destroying U.S. salaries, U.S. businesses that hire in the U.S., and as an end result, destroying the U.S. marketplace while still demanding BUSINESS ENTITLEMENTS and protections for themselves.

Infrastructure spending and tax breaks will not replace enough jobs to keep up with the hemorrhaging loss of U.S. jobs from out-sourcing over seas. Neither party will do anything about it unless we begin grass roots efforts to protest out-sourcing and off-shoring of U.S. jobs. If nothing is done we will deserve what we get and it will get a lot worse before it gets better

Come on folks, you have to have ID to watch some movies, or buy a alcohol drink, or drive a motorized vehicle, cash a check, receive health care etc. How does this help Republicans? Unless your telling me democrats aren't smart enough to get state ID.I don't see it benefiting either party.
