The New Yorker Celebrates Obama’s Gay Marriage Evolution


To celebrate President Obama’s landmark statement that he personally advocates for marriage equality, The New Yorker will for its May 21 addition release a special cover to mark this momentous event.

Here it is:

The cover is called “Spectrum of Light” and has been put together by artist Bob Staake. The New Yorker quotes Starke as saying:

“I am honored to be doing this cover. It’s a celebratory moment for our country, and that’s what I tried to capture. (I don’t especially like those rainbow colors, but they are what they are–I had to use them.) I wanted to celebrate the bravery of the President’s statement–a statement long overdue–but all the more appreciated in this political year. We are on the right side of history.”

I love this cover. Frances, I love your comment. Yes, Sam maybe you need to read the Constitution of the United States. Thank God for the age of enlightenment and its influence on our Founding Fathers. Whom we choose to marry...whether a woman chooses to have an abortion or not...these are personal issues...

This is not meant to be mean or hateful, but make no mistake about it,
homosexuality is a sin, an obomination to God. The bible makes this very clear.
We cannot take one or two verses out of the bible and twist
them to justify this sin or any other sin.
Regardless of whether you believe the bible or not, what laws
may be passed saying it is ok, being told we need to be politically correct and
tolerant of sin, or which human being may place their stamp of approval
on it does not make it right.
When all is said and done and we come to the end of
our life, we WILL each stand before a judge who will judge by HIS
standards which are clearly written in the bible. We are not
going to be judged by man’s standards, our feelings and opinions.
God will not accept any excuse on our day of judgement. It will be too late
to make the right decision then – the time is right now.
To sin is a choice, we will either make the right one
or the wrong one and you alone will have to answer for
your sin, not your parents, pastor, friends, or the government.
We all have a decision to make about where we want to spend eternity.
You have to decide if making the wrong choice is really worth all
eternity, because we will all spend it in one of two places, and one is
NOT a hole in the ground.
