Virginia Delays Ultrasound Vote

Virginia Republicans again delayed a vote on SB484, the bill that would require a woman undergo a transvaginal ultrasound before having an abortion.

The bill is widely unpopular among Virginia voters and has been one of the targets of two protest rallies on the State Capital grounds that drew nearly 1,000 women on Monday.

There’s early evidence to suggest the crusade against women’s rights is starting to strain even conservatives. According to at least one report, some Republicans may attempt to soften the bill to make the ultrasound optional rather than mandatory. But others have said they are unaware of any effort to amend or table the ultrasound bill. Passage seems certain in the House where a nearly identical bill passed the Senate.

Gov. Bob McDonnell supports the bill but has refused to commit a position on this specific bill given the controversy.

This is good news, even though there’s still a long road ahead in nearly every state in this country. But if we keep the pressure up, if we continue to demand that lawmakers stop this ridiculous war on women’s health, we can prevent the right from rolling back decades of gains made by women.

We have moved back into the bad old days with this tea party radical right religious Republican party. They have moved into the insane realm of politics. We women are not going back. We will be kicking these idiots out of office. Psychiatric help won't cure them, there narrow minds can't absorb common sense. They think that we will forget this by the time the election rolls around. They have no respect for us, and think voters aren't very smart with a short attention span.

I also worked in a hospital for 16 years..every patient must sign an informed consent form before any procedure can done. I am a grandmother of 3 little girls, and I will work hard to get rid of these draconian medieval policies the right wing is trying to ram through.

I made a video about why abortion should be easily available, and free for any woman that wants one. Here’s the link:

Watch it, share it, and join the fight against the evil anti-abortionists.

Republicans delay the vote when they are facing the critics; they are waiting until they can slip it through. They are trying to please what they perceive to be the views of the religious right. They believe if they work on social values they don't have to do things such as jobs, economy, and equal taxation.

A song for Virginia women -- He's Only Just Begun

Bob McDonnell's still in your crotch,
With a forced test here and and a forced test there,
Here a probe, there a probe, everywhere a forced probe,
Bob McDonnell's still in your crotch,
Vote this sucker out
