Wolf Rescued From Icy River Reminds Us To Never Give Up

As winter begins its approach in several regions, we’re reminded of the impact cold weather can have on wildlife. Survival, in deep snow and ice, is not easy. And for animals who are injured, the situation can quickly turn fatal. But for one wolf trapped in an icy river, and near death, a human rescue team arrived just in time.

Although this footage was taken during a previous winter, this stirring wolf rescue is a perfect example of the message that it’s never too late to try. Here you’ll see the Italian group Monte Adone Centre, that rescues and rehabilitates injured wildlife. The wolf was malnourished, had multiple pellets lodged in his body and was partially paralyzed in his hind legs. After surgery and weeks of intensive care, the wolf regained his ability to walk and recovered in an outdoor enclosure until he was eventually ready for his return to the wild.

Today we encourage a spirit of activism in those who come across an animal in need. Be ready. Have the phone numbers of your local wildlife rescue agencies. Keep some emergency supplies in your car at all times. And above all, don’t be afraid to get involved.

This never would have happened in redneck homicidal USA states. Or in Canada which hates all wildlife as well.
