15 Handmade Valentine’s Day Gifts

Last week we gave you some gift ideas for the guys, and promised to return this week with some ideas for the ladies! While we definitely can’t argue that a nice home cooked meal or flowers is plenty for lots of folks, we also know that some people still love to give a little something extra.

Psstt… if you’re looking for step-by-step instructions on stuff you can DIY yourself, check out this awesome roundup from Craftfoxes. And if you’re feeling extra crafty, we suggest trying to make any of the things from our roundup yourself!

These wooden birds help support the heart nestled between them, acting as a symbolic representation of the compromise and compassion that it takes to make love work. Laser cut from sustainably harvested maple and hand finished in the USA with non-toxic, water-based paint. Three-piece set (as shown). (Uncommon Goods, $28)

This bowl is perfect for your gal to keep her precious jewelry in while she showers, washes her hands, etc. Cribbed from the famous e.e. cummings poem, the dish is handmade by artist Caroline Colom Vasquez with the beautiful words, “I Carry Your Heart.” Made of fine, white ceramic with a semi-matte finish, the shallow dish holds a free-standing heart token as a symbol of lasting affection. (Uncommon Goods, $32)

Wanna get flowers and something awesome to put them in? How nice of you! We suggest this small vase (maybe make it a single stem?) for the lady who really saved you and makes your world more beautiful. Hand-painted in Vermont by Beth Mueller. (Uncommon Goods, $32)

Anyone remember the “he loves me, he loves me not” game? Ah, how could we forget! Remind her that you love her with this sweet pillow. Hand-embroidered and super soft! (Uncommon Goods, $75)

Give her the gift of comfort and relaxation with this reclaimed and upcycled robe. Featuring a patchwork of reclaimed saris by a cooperative of artisans in a village outside of Rajasthan, India, the kimono-style robe wraps and belts with a complementary sash. The lightweight material features saturated hues and beautiful patterns and the story behind the creation (profits give Indian women the opportunity to create a better standard of living for themselves, their children, and their communities) is definitely something to feel good about. (Uncommon Goods, $58)

The iconic “LOVE” design printed on 8×10 heavy matte archival-safe photo paper and personalized with the couple’s names and wedding or anniversary date. (Paper Mint Shop, $25)

Jewelry is never a bad idea, and for Valentine’s Day you can’t go wrong with something heart themed. If she’s an earrings kinda gal, she might appreciate these tiny textured silver hearts. They are suspended daintily from delicate Sterling Silver balled earwires and have been oxidized, buffed and tumble polished. (Jennifer Casady, $33)

You can never go wrong with lotion! But instead of buying some manufactured stuff with potentially dangerous ingredients, try getting her something handmade and packaged with love. This 4 ounce bottle of scented lotion can be bought in either “Love Spell” or “Chocolatey Chocolovers” and are super romantic in nature. The ingredients are: Aloe Vera, Distilled water, Cocoa butter, Coconut oil and lovely Olive oil. (5 Chances Store, $5)

Into the whole jewelry thing but not feeling earrings? This simple and modern heart necklace is the kind of thing almost any woman would love to receive, so this is especially perfect if your gal is picky or hard to buy for. The titled heart charm is made from sterling silver wire that was hammered for texture. (Viva Revival, $21)

This unique pyrographed wooden key is threaded through by a fine organza ribbon with natural wood bead detailing. Each wood key is lovingly handcrafted from birch ply – pyrographed (wood burnt), delicately colored and finished with light protective coats of water based varnish. You choose which short personal message to have wood burnt onto the back of your key. Adorable! (Wendy Elf, $14)

Aannnddd we complete the jewelry trifecta with a bracelet. The infinity symbol has made a huge leap in popularity lately (Revenge, anyone?) and the simple and sweet message (love you forever) is timeless. (Three Bird Nest, $16)

Lover have an iPhone? Deck them out with a personalized chalkboard case to show the world how much you care. The artist uses a unique dye transfer process, where the image is permanently infused into a metal plate. The process really brings out the vibrant colors & details in each case. Available in both rubber and plastic cases in black or white. *Please note this is an image/photo of a chalkboard, not an actual chalkboard. (Arete, $16)

Combine two of the hottest styles – monogram and chevron – for the perfect gift for your hip lady. The super soft knit jersey is sewn in a continuous loop and can be worn long and loose or doubled up for cozy comfort! Scarf is sewn in a double layer with no exposed edges or seams and the soft fabric is suitable for all seasons. Twelve monogram styles to choose from. (Mary and Lucy, $28)

Keep it simple and adorable with this keychain, which features a 2 inch tag with the saying “I love you to the moon and back” and is accented by a moon star charm. Three fonts to choose from. (Three Boys Wish, $12)

Want to give her a gift pack of goodies? We recommend this set, “The Ultimate Valentines day all natural spa Gift set.” Ready to ship with gift tag and your custom message.
