5 Stylish and Affordable Lighting Fixtures

A well-designed piece doesn’t always have to come with a price: These five lamps will add style and light to your home without breaking the bank. (And no electrician required.)

Above: The Finnish inspired Ada Table Lamp has a cotton drum shade and lacquered resin tulip base; $59.95 from CB2.

Above: One of the more useful fixtures: clip-on lighting. The Designer’s Edge Clamp Light is a humble hardware store version that boasts chic industrial appeal; $8.97 at Home Depot.

Designed by Olle Lundberg, the Tral Wall Lamp does not require any hard wiring. With an adjustable head and a cream-colored, powder-coated aluminum shade, it offers simple sophistication; $16.99 at Ikea.

Above: We’re always looking for fun ways to add color: These West Elm Industrial Task Table Lamps come in black, true red, and turmeric, as well as a polished nickel. The adjustable arm makes for a great work or reading lamp; $69 for colors, $79 for polished nickel.

Above: This rice paper Vate Table Lamp from Ikea reminds us of the iconic Noguchi Akari lamps, offering subtle illumination from a sculptured design; $9.99.

The only problem is that, aside from the industrial desk lamp, I wouldn't want any of these in my home or office. But I'm sure you could find more interesting items at your local flea market or garage sale and recycle something rather than buying new.

Thank you for this post. I have been looking for some inexpensive task lighting for my condo and I think that clamp light idea is perfect! Thank you so much.
