The trouble with texting is you can't see the face and body language or hear the tone. What could be cute or funny in person can be very off putting in the cyber world. Mind you, some of these would be off putting in any world.

This reminds me of the last time I ever went to a club back in the dark days after my fiance jilted me and before I met my husband. I spent three hours in that place, and the only guy to hit on me was this 60-something John Travolta wannabe who looked like he'd fallen right off the set of "Saturday Night Fever!" I swear to the Goddess this guy was old enough to be my FATHER, and he had the whole getup going-loud shirt unbuttoned halfway down his chest, enough gold chains to shackle a prison work gang, tight white pants, slick pompadour hairdo, the whole nine yards, and he thought he was Mr. GQ Smooth! Despite my sending out clear signals that I was DEFINITELY not interested (especially since I was 23 and am NOT into May-December romances), this idiot was like flypaper all night! Finally he starts pestering me for my phone number despite my telling him no way.

I showed him-since I was a volunteer with the police department, I did some fast thinking and gave him the phone number to the front desk at the civilian entrance! BWAHAHAHAHA! I used to have a pager for my job as a security guard, but I didn't want to give this idiot the number and have him beeping me nonstop all the time-that's worse than constant messages on the answering machine! However, I had some great mental images of the total confusion on his face when he thought he was calling Dream Girl and instead got the desk sergeant!

Oh, and I never went to a club or a bar again-since the point of going ther
