Delicious Hemp Heart Recipes for Your Meals

We learned how many health benefits the superfood hemp hearts have. So now let’s get them into our meals. You can simply sprinkle them on your porridge or salad. I enjoy starting my day with them for breakfast and include them in many of my meals. Here are three very easy to make recipes that are delicious too. They are vegan and the first two are raw.

Let’s start with making hemp heart milk.

Hemp heart recipes

Creamy Hemp Heart Milk

Hemp hearts which are the hemp seeds hulled are a very good source of protein because they have all the essential amino acids. They are a rich source of both omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. Also, they are full of many nutrients making the milk made from them very nutritious.

The hemp hearts have a nutty taste to them and creaminess. It tastes so good that I don’t need to add a sweetener like stevia.  I have put it in the recipe as an option for you to test it for yourself.

There is no need to strain this milk but if you make it with hemp seeds it will need to be strained.

Ingredients:

2 cups pure water
1/2 cup raw hemp seeds, hulled (hemp hearts)
A pinch Himalayan salt
2 Brazil nuts*
1/3 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)
1/4 tsp light stevia (optional)
*I like to get the nutrition and selenium that Brazil nuts are full of and the milk is extra delicious!

Directions:

  1. Put 2 cups of pure water in a high-powered blender.
  2. Now add 1/2 cup of hemp hearts.
  3. Blend the hemp hearts and water for 1-2 minutes.
  4. You can store in a glass jar or bottle in the fridge.

Best to use this milk within 2-3 days.

  3. Put the basil, garlic, and hemp seeds into a food processor fitted with the S blade. Pulse about 10 times, to help break down the basil.

  5. Taste and add more salt if needed.
  6. Serve on pasta, as a dip, salads, pizzas, toast or whatever you would like!

Pesto is said to only last 3 – 5 days in the fridge or it can be kept frozen for up to 1 month. I find mine in the fridge lasts for at least a week.
