Ginger-Turmeric Tea

Whether you’re fighting a cold or just feeling chilly, spicy-yet-soothing Ginger-Turmeric Tea is just what the doctor ordered!

Turmeric and ginger are delicious together, and they’re both medicinal, as well. They reduce inflammation, which can help give you some pain relief when you have a cold. And they contain antioxidants that help your body fight a cold before it kicks in.

This recipe is a homemade version of one of my new favorite teas. I first started drinking Ginger-Turmeric Tea last winter. Its earthy spiciness just felt like the perfect contrast to the gray, winter days. It soothed my sore throat when I got a nasty cold, and it warmed my belly on chilly evenings.

  • 2 teaspoons ground turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons minced ginger (or 2 teaspoons ground ginger)
  • 4 cups water. Bring to a boil. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Strain into mugs, and sweeten to taste.)

Instructions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
  2. Strain your Ginger-Turmeric Tea into mugs, and enjoy!

Notes

You can sweeten this, to taste, with agave nectar or stevia, if it's a bit too spicy for you straight up.
