The Perfect Home Spa Self Care Weekend

Self care often gets put on the back burner during our busy weeks. And by the time weekends come, we’re too busy catching up on other life stuff. It’s this vicious cycle that leaves us burned out, over-stressed, and lackluster. Or worse – sick.

This weekend, don’t use busy as an excuse to pass up some self-lovin’. Follow this step-by-step plan for the perfect home spa experience.

Home Spa Weekend Plans

Find a babysitter, if you need one, and give yourself the perfect home spa weekend with this plan.

Bentonite Clay Mask

Donít let the simplicity of this mud mask fool you. Itís packed with antibacterial fighting power, and itís sure to give you that glowing skin youíve been craving.

Bentonite clay traps the positive ions in toxins with its negative charge to remove all kinds of nasty stuff from your skin. On top of that, Arizona State University discovered that healing clays, like bentonite, have the power to kill salmonella, e. Coli, and MRSA. Combine that with the antibacterial properties of honey and youíve got yourself one power-packed face mask.

Mix together 1 tablespoon bentonite clay powder, 1 tablespoon honey, and 1 tablespoon water.

Foot Soak

You donít need to go to an expensive spa to pamper yourself with a foot soak. Find an extra bucket in your guest bedroom closet. One large enough to feet your feet but not too big. This isnít a bath. Although you could do that if you were so inclined. Fill the bucket with warm to hot water. Make it steamy. Since itís a small container it will likely cool quickly. So the warmer it is to start, the better.

Add 1-2 tablespoons of Epsom salt and a few drops of your favorite essential oils. Think relaxing like chamomile or lavender. Place the bucket on a towel in front of your favorite seat. Before you dive in,†read number three below.

Guided Meditation

You may be tempted to turn on the TV but instead, listen to a guided meditation while your feet are soaking. You can either pull up your favorite meditation app on your phone. Or use this meditation easily found on YouTube. Lay your head back and relax.

Dry Brush

As soon as your meditation is over, grab your dry brush and get at it. You can do this while your feet continue to soak. Or dry off your feet and focus solely on dry brushing. Dry brushing exfoliates your skin while stimulating your lymphatic system. Which plays a major role in regulating your immunity. Keeping your lymphatic fluid moving keeps you healthy.

Plus, it feels really good to brush every inch of your body down. Donít do it mindlessly either. Focus in on each stroke. And send loving energy to your body as you brush.

Self-Massage with Homemade Lotion

Now that you’ve properly exfoliated it’s time to rub yourself down with some homemade lotion. You can make your own lavender and patchouli lotion. Or simply grab whatever natural lotion you have. Try to limit your fragrance to essential oils rather than the usual chemical suspects.

These chemical concoctions will throw off the whole vibe you’ve been creating for yourself all evening. So please be selective with your lotion choice. And do as you did with dry brushing. Attend lovingly to each part of your body as you massage and moisturize.

Final Thoughts

Itís not overly complicated. Youíve probably done all of these things before at some time or another. In fact, I bet none of this is new to you. But, every once in a while, we need a good reminder to press pause and give ourselves the loving attention we deserve. This is that reminder.
