Animal fighting is an incredibly cruel activity that results in the abuse and injury of animals like dogs and chickens, but attendance at these barbaric spectacles has made animal fighting a lucrative underground business.

This is the same type of mentality that goes on with sex slaves. They would arrest the women, many who are held in terror, yet the johns who "buy" them for sex would get away. If there was no one buying them then the pimps would have no reason to keep women and young girls against their will. So too with the fights with animals, if people didn't pay to view this horror then there would be no reason to fight the dogs or other animals, so go after the ones who pay for this type of spectacule.

I am against any animals being controlled to act for human financial gain including horse racing, dog racing, bull fighting, etc. To make dogs and chickens fight to hurt each other is a horror and should have a harsh punishment.

Anyone attending animal fighting must have a craving for violence. Once arrested, they should be placed on a list that prohibits any animal ownership and on a list as potential predators and suspects in crimes of violence. Many of these people are betting money on the animal fight and that too should be prosecuted, illegal betting and punishment inflicted. A misdemeanor seems much too light to me. I believe it should be a felony of a lesser level, but a felony in order to create a higher punishment for supporting these brutal crimes against our fellow creatures we should be protecting. There are various levels of felonies which I am not familiar with but because they are there to witness a killing and supporting the occasion a jail sentence should be required.
Signed petitions, all when I am aware of them. Thank you for keeping the issue at the forefront.

It makes perfect sense. Get rid of the audiences (punish their sorry butts), then there’s no reason to have animal fights. Not that there is ever a reason have to them in the first place. Of course the people who stage these things are obviously not the smartest or most moral people around, so chances are they’ll find some other illegal or immoral way of making a quick buck. Sadly these types of people make money their “God” and will do anything to earn a fast buck like the money grubbing sons of a $5 whore they are.

Maximum punishment and then a registry for these offenders so that it is public record - they should never be allowed to own or come near an animal ever again.

I’m am animal lover and firm believer in animal rights and I’ve never made much distinction between humans and animals when it comes to respect and tolerance. Unfortunately, with humankind being who we are, we’ll never live in a world where we can co-exist with animals in perfect and complete harmony. Since time immemorial we’ve slaughtered and tortured them for variety of reasons. Some of the reasons I can at least grasp (subsistence, religious purposes) even though I don’t approve of them and would like to see them stopped or at least significantly reduced. Out of all those reasons using and maltreating animals for pure human entertainment is plain sick and there is NO reason why this should be allowed to go on. And it goes without saying that without an audience there’s no show, thus all those attending animal fights are responsible for the fights going on….Yes, they should be fined and punished.
