21-24 November 2010 at the invitation of Russian Prime Minister Vladmira Putin in St. Petersburg will host international summit on tiger conservation, which will bring together government leaders and representatives of 13 states on whose territory the Tigers survived: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Vietnam , India, Indonesia, Cambodia, China, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Russia, Thailand, Korea. For the first time the fate of a rare species of animals will be discussed at such a high level.

Situation with the tiger conservation on a global scale can be described as catastrophic.

In this case, the total number of tigers is rapidly decreasing (in the last 100 years, the numbers of this species decreased 30-fold - from 100000 to 3200), many subspecies are threatened with extinction, some are already gone forever. WWF and environmentalists around the world have high hopes for November's "tiger" summit, which should be worked out joint solutions to all countries around the world to conserve the tiger in the wild.

More than 200 thousand people worldwide, "growled" at Tiger ...Youth Forum
Simultaneously with the Summit of Heads of Government 19-25 November in Vladivostok will host the International Youth Forum on tiger conservation. The Forum will bring together young activists from the conservation of all tiger range countries. During the Forum, fellows will develop a youth declaration on tiger conservation, which will implement after the forum ends.

I am so excited about Tiger Summit. All these government leaders and representatives together discussing and coming to a conclusion on how to save tigers and their habitats. Can hardly wait to see the outcome. Thanks Cher!

Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy. Matthew 5:7

This also applies to showing mercy to animals, birds, fish and all God's creation.

God did not give us dominion over animals to torture them He gave us dominion that we might love them and enjoy them and care for them.

What goes around comes around.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap Galatians 6:7

We (here in South Africa) have been losing our rhinos at a rate that was just beyond words. We then had a Rhino summit and things started changing. It has actually been incredible to see. EVERYONE has come together and pledged equipment, time, money and people. We now have patrols and trackers going out 24 / 7 (in the State game reserves and they are going to be including the privately owned reserves) and the arrests have increased phenominally - not only the poachers, but their bosses as well. They (the poachers etc) are getting their arses nailed to the wall and we (the rest of us) are so incredibly proud of this initiative. Don't get me wrong, rhinos are still being killed but at HUGELY reduced numbers and even 1 rhino being shot, is 1 too many, but hopefully as this initiative gains momentum, these poachers (and their bosses) will be squeezed so tightly that all our rhinos will be safe. I pray that day comes soon. The point I am trying to make, is that if an initiative like this can work here, a similar initiative for tigers and other endangered animals could work anywhere in the world. So I give 10 (if I had them) thumbs up for this !!!!!!!!!!

I certainly hope that they will come together to save these wonderful animals AND will prosecute and jail any poachers.
