.All what matters in Japan is "cute, cute, cute". Once cuteness is no longer present animals of all kind are discarded like the litter in their cities. Cuteness is an obsession based on stupidity. The mass perception of animals is borders on mental defectiveness. Their pet shops are full of idiotic junk, in midst, cages cramped with dogs and cats. When a “lucky” animal is taken home, it again is put in a tiny cage and only taken out when someone wants to play. When everyone has become tired of them (= no longer looking cute) scratch or freak out due to their constant imprisonment cats in particular end up homeless in the nearest park, joining clans of other discarded (unneutered) cats.

Now the latest fad is: cat restaurants. It would be all fine with me if the public would open their brain to understand the needs of a pet. That cuteness just make me vomit. Korea and China are not too far behind.

Hats off to this lady and staff! I will get in touch with them to see how I can help. Hope you do too!

The Asian countries are just awful to their animals. There is no support for a shelter system or compassion for an animal in need. I suppose we should just be glad that their not eating them in Japan.

Anja, what you write are not entirely far from the truth but still not entirely true. While I agree that "cuteness obesession" is stupid, there are people who really care for animals, and take good care of their dogs, cats, or whatever they keep as the companion animals.
I have a friend who's been helping stray cats, and of course she has more people like her in the group.

And janet, so I suppose things are much different and better in Western or European countries. Or in the US. Then how do I see so many Care2 articles reporting/condemning animal abuses committed in such countries?

My Lord, I am so glad to know their are people in Japan who actually care about animals, I wish I could spread this idea all over the world. Animls are important and not to amuse, feed or be exploited by humans.

Shouldn't this and other animal and pet related articles be listed under the category/tab that's specifically for them ...and where we would expect them to be ...under "Animals" ?

Jusss say'n...

really wouldn't want to scroll through a bunch of political threads in the Animal section/category to get to an actual animal article/petition.

again..jusss say'n..

Jae, excuse me for the inconvenience. Well, as the Animal category is always full of news/articles that seem to be more urgent or serious (I don't say this one is not urgent, though) and needs many people to note to be promoted to the front page, and I wonder, as this is a call from Japan, it may not get enough attention under such category. Then I posted this under "offbeat" tag.
Sorry I was a bit unfair...
