To artists and gallery owners : We urge you to stop exhibiting your art in China until Ai Wei Wei is free. If the Chinsese government is allowed to get away with the disappearance of its most famous artist, no other artist is safe, and no artist is free.

Signed - a similar petition on Change.org/ had so many signatures that it caused problems on the site. For international signatures Avaaz is about the best petition site.

God, I hate using art and artists as politics....except as goodwill and bringing folk together. But art IS radical. I would sign the petiton, though.

Dictatorships always feel threatened by creative minds. What a shame, it's the creative mind that has moved humanity forward.

I signed this a couple days ago. Of course, right now the main celebration is the death of O'Slimey bin Lurkin'.

@Kit B
my understanding is that Change.org was so effective in this issue that they were hit by a denial of service attack probably orchestrated by the chinese government. Do you have information otherwise for you to make (unfavourable and unnecessary) comparisons between Change.org and Avaaz ??

AVAAZ is a great organization. They're really active in the community. I support all of their campaigns.
