In 2002, Australian Catharine "Jane" FIsher was forced into the back of a van and brutally raped, but because her attacker was a US navy sailor stationed in Yokosuka, he's still not been brought to justice.

Not only "Jane" but too many Japanese women/girls are victimized by the US military men stationed in Japan - Okinawa, Yokosuka, etc. And in fact, the petition seeking the justice should be addressed to the US government, instead of the Japanese foreign ministry. It is the US, aggressor, who is NOT cooperating to bring those criminals to the proper courts.

Petition signed. Rape should not be tolerated no matter who is the one to cause this act of violence upon another.

Any person committing an act of rape should be sentenced into a prison, period. NO ifs or buts!

Come on, guys, if she's not willing, go use your hand somewhere and leave her alone. Violent rape should be a capital crime, and in Japan that means you lose your head! Seppuku if you're a man about it; execution if you're a coward.

Rape is about control, torture ad sheer violence. Anyone who commits such a violent act against another should not be walking the streets. This SOB needs to be in jail. No matter who he is !!

If this outrage occurred in Afghanistan or Iraq, the G.I.'s would have been dealt with and punished! It's a matter of 'political' sensitivity. Right now, Japan isn't 'important', much to our disgrace.

Have most definitely signed. Atrocities like this cannot go ignored and unpunished. Just because the perpetrator is in the military does not mean they are above and beyond the law or reproach. Thank you Naoko.

why should rapist be sent home (to his family wife and kids?? parents? siblings? ) to live a normal happy life after he basically terrorized another human being? Why should this creep get away with rape? There is absolutely no excuse for what was done. None at all. Least of all, cause he wanted to, knew he could get away with it, had no reservations about doing it, and no regret.
this is NOT a matter of "boys will be boys" on "shore leave". I hope he "disappears under unusual circumstances" never to be seen again unless in the form of mystery sushi served to the ship's crew.
