While millions across the globe were inspired and moved by speeches made at former President Nelson Mandela's memorial service on Tuesday, the international deaf community expressed outrage over what they say was a fake sign language interpreter.

The Worldwide Deaf Community is rightfully outraged.
They haven't been able to figure out how this faker got on the platform. He is not with any Licensed Deaf Interpreter group. As far as they have been able to find, so far.
Maybe somebody just "forgot" to get a Licensed Interpreter? or something happened to the Interpreter, and this stranger just stepped in?
It is an Insult because they act like Deaf People are Stupid and Don't Count, it Doesn't Matter.
Guy should have been REMOVED, and they can't figure out why he wasn't removed while the speeches were going on! Better to have NOBODY!
There are accredited groups of Licensed Interpreters, just as there are accredited Translators into foreign languages at the UN and where needed.
LGBT events in Seattle such as concerts, often have a Signing Interpreter - same skilled person who has been doing it at these events for years! This is a REAL PROFESSION, and highly regarded!
It is also sortof an INSULT to the people whose speeches were supposed to be Signed, such as to President Obama and to the other noted Speakers...

I've been learning Japanese sign language (Sign languages differ in different coutries) and hope to become able to act as an interpreter at some functions, at least help deaf people with necessary communication. But it's not an easy road...Yes BMutiny sign language interpreters should be highly regarded.

HOW DARE those responsible for operating the memorial service as important as it was, insulted and discriminated deaf people worldwide?!
