Wow, brilliant news. I thought he was a goner. Ok, let's prosecute the parents now.

I'm so glad he's safe. Now his parents need to pay all the expenses incurred by the government in finding him and be charged with child abandonment and endangering the life of a child. Thanks, Naoko.

God bless this poor little boy. I dearly hope his parents are being charged.

I don't know what charge would be appropriate, because I don't know enough about Japanese legal codes. But I'll bet they have something. Or will come up with something. I also don't know enough about Japan to know what will happen to this child if his parents are locked up. Though I would be interested.

Unbelievable! He seems to be a smart little boy with his wits about him. One lucky boy!

What a horrible story. What were they ever thinking of?

The whole story is that they left him for a few minutes, came back and he was gone. Japanese parents are very strict, and this is probably not considered abuse in Japan.

The parents have suffered enough - they are embarrassed and truly sorry (according to the article I read elsewhere). I'm sure they have learned a lesson from this and won't be doing anything like that again. Isn't that the most important thing?

Although I'm a bit suspicious myself (if the parents, especially the father, is regularly "too strict" to the boy) I don't think this is considered a case of abuse in Japan. Or the boy is taken from the parents.
Still, the father needs to learn some parenting skills that are more kind and reasonable.
