Even the Palestinian terrorists didn't wreck the environment. Besides, the Jewish religion forbids harming trees. What an atrocity.

""Price tag" is a term used by Israeli extremists for attacks on Palestinians and their property, often in response to Israeli moves to dismantle settlements.

Similar graffiti was found Friday on a Muslim grave near the northern Israeli coastal city of Haifa.

The State Department's 2013 Country Reports on Terrorism included "price tag" attacks for the first time, citing UN figures of some "399 attacks by extremist Israeli settlers that resulted in Palestinian injuries or property damage."

Such attacks were "largely unprosecuted," it said.

On Saturday, a former chief of Israel's domestic intelligence agency, Shin Bet, condemned the refusal of security services to deal with Jewish fringe groups the same way as any terrorist cell"

The only new thing here is that there is greater recognition of such terrorist acts against Palestinians ...

Thanks for posting, Glenn: sadly, those who most need to open their eyes & recognise such realities are unlikely to take any notice (or will aggressively deny it).

Thanks for posting Glenn. This has been happening before and as long as these criminals enjoy total impunity it will continue. Remarkable how even former Shin Bet chief demands this be acknowledged as a terrorist act which it is.

it would really be great if people on this site would stop using the word jewish. jewish is a religion. these are right wing zionist doing this. jews are liberal, kind and caring people and if it wasn't for jew money filling democrat coffers this country would be in a world of feces with all the money the one percent give to the right wing republicans.
we owe them a big debt.

"Jewish religion forbids harming trees"

Those that commit these acts are not Jews, they are Zionists and a shame on all the peace loving Jews in the world.

Although I am glad to realize that more and more people are waking up to Israel's atrocities, I fear that too many people - even intelligent and sensible ones - will tar all Jews with the same brush. Good for you, Clare, pointing out that there is a difference between a Jew and a Zionist - a big difference. If anti-Semitism rears its ugly head again, I will be horrified - but I will not be surprised.

Uprooting trees is bad. It is no better, than Arabs stealing cattle from Israeli farmers, which is a big issue.

When Israeli government shows unlimited patience with Arab criminals and punishes only settlers, that feeling of injustice feeds desperation.

Hopefully, Israeli government will take a more balanced approach and all thieves - Arab and Jewish alike - will be punished with the same effectiveness and without taking into account usual nonsensel screams of "Islamophobia" and "Discrimination against Arabs".

Parcifal, you found an interesting quote regarding Jews: 'In all, we are destroyers - because we want our own world'

I wanted to look more, and found the only reference to it on only one spot: www.stormfront.org. Considering, that you highly unlikely read the philosophical book written in 1924, that Nazi page seems to be the place where you found this quote.

I understand, that Persian was renamed to Iran which means Aryan in Farsi in 1943 to show how Nazi ideology was dear to a big number of Iranians and Arabs. But why do you think peaceful people will like it?

Thanks for the info, Evelyn. Sorry for being late but I’m a bit tide-up right now.

Unfortunately olive tree destruction is not new; it's going on "unnoticed" by the world, since a very long time. All that makes headlines are the reactions of the Palestinian farmers if there are any.

More info on the systematic destruction of ancient olive trees by the settlers can be found here (no specific order):

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Settlers+destroying+Olive+Trees

But it’s not only olive trees that they attack – they equally attack the homes of the Palestinian farmers as well as setting them ablaze: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2J8ckCAe0Q while the IDF is watching and obstructing the path of the firefighters! Below is the write-up of the incident which is not an isolated one. Thanks to B’tselem and many others who distribute video cameras since a few years a number of such atrocities are now irrefutably documented.

Hebron, Occupied Palestine
On Sunday, July 28, Israeli settlers severely burned land belonging to Hani Abu Haikel and his family in Hebron. Occupation soldiers, though at first trying to help stop the fire ended up blocking the road so that Palestinian firefighters were delayed in reaching the scene. Several very old olive trees were destroyed in the fire which swept over immense swathes of land very quickly. In the video below, Hani Abu Haikel speaks about the incident and how Israeli settlers, soldiers and police work together to pressure Palestinian families to leave the Israeli-controlled H2 district of occupied Hebron. Flames tear through one of Abu Haikel’s oldest olive trees (Photo by Christian Peacemaker Teams)

The previous evening, July 27th, Israeli police came to Hani Abu Haikel’s house and questioned him about a variety of subjects including whether he has any plans of leaving the area, to which he answered in the negative. Apparently this questioning is a regular occurrence. Israeli soldiers have also arrested Abu Haikel and his children on spurious charges, later releasing them without charge. The soldiers continue to regularly detain and interrogate members of the family.

Yesterday afternoon Abu Haikel saw settlers present in the area of the Israeli military base. As this is a common thing for them to do, he thought nothing of it at first. However, after this Abu Haikel saw the settlers spray water all over the small plot they have illegally cultivated on his land, right beneath the military base. He then saw them spray another, apparently flammable chemical over his land; soon after this, his land was on fire. Observers noted that Israeli soldiers were obstructing people from reaching the scene to help. Palestinian fire engines were prevented from reaching the scene for at least half an hour, allowing the fire to spread rapidly and scorch the land, despite volunteers passing buckets of water between them to try to quell the flames.

Israeli settler children stand laughing on the partially scorched wall just above their untouched plot of illegally cultivated land (Photo by Christian Peacemaker Teams). The only part of the Abu Haikel land that wasn’t completely scorched was the small plot cultivated by Israeli settlers. Hani Abu Haikel explained that this is the eighth time settlers have burned his property, including an incident ten years ago when they burned all of his trees, meaning that many of the trees that were burnt this time were very young. It has taken him these ten years to effectively replant his land again and now, again it will be years before his land is as it was before this crime.”

Other regular incidents are attacks on school children which go unnoticed by the world media – oversight?! Maybe … all I know is that if such where the case that Jewish school children are attacked the media would break out into a frenzy … This incident is reported by Rabbis for Human Rights who regularly help the Palestinian farmers harvesting and selling their olive oil: http://rhr.org.il/eng/2014/04/4-palestinian-children-attacked-one-badly-injured-by-israeli-extremists/

Well … it will be a question of time until I’m accused of being anti-Semitic …

Thanks for the very much to the point postings by Ros – as always a pleasure to read you!
