Ugh, the time couldn't be worse for us...
I agree with your last statement, and Yes!! to forestall this nomination so legislation can be passed so that any Federal official cannot approve any confirmation while being investigated for criminal conduct. (you wrote it better though), thx

" With a slim majority of 51 to 49 in the upper chamber, and the absence of Senator John McCain, who is home in Arizona battling cancer, a single Republican defection could tank a Trump SCOTUS nomination. As I reported on Thursday, Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska are viewed as potential turncoats if Trump names a justice too far to the right, given their past support for women’s reproductive health. h/t Abigail Tracy of VF

Thank you, Furies for looking into this..and Joanne for this great post.

Thanks Joanne--one thing that at least suggests your hypothesis is reasonable and concern about timing warranted is that apparently Kennedy's son Justin renegotiated things (or the company Justin was CEO of did) with the company Jared Kushner was CEO of on the infamous building to keep that company out of bankrupcy and Trump made public comments on the deal and publicly asked Justice Kennedy to greet his son...

I think this was another trump plot. Kennedy showed his true colors, but I think trump bought this seat, I hope it becomes part of Mueller's extended investigation, or another special counsel. I still hold faith the Mueller investigation will find the 2016 won by fraud and that it will be overturned. Yes, naive, but it's one of my better qualities. If that happens, and there is precedent, then everything Trump has done will be invalidated, or should be, every appointment, executive order, all of it wiped away.

There's bright hope for the future in people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose platform is the most progressive I have ever seen while still being absolutely possible with some much needed budgetary reform. We CAN afford it, easily, it will come even if takes my generation's dying off to make it happen. This is the platform this newest generation and the one following it can, and will, get behind. She is the new face of America and it's about time. Old white men have run their course, even if not all of them know it yet. The future is here and it is bright.

I’m sure the Furies could do with the help of a few million people peacefully protesting in the streets to stall the confirmation of a Drumpf spawn, Joanne. Drumpf has said he’ll announce his new pick on July 9, but you never know with him and the GOP will see to it that hearings start immediately and probably behind closed doors. So get cracking, Furies.

Agree with Gene, that seat was purchased.

He certainly could have waited to announce just before the Nov elections to at least give the Country a shot at an impartial judge rather than a right wing ideologue. That's the least he could have done after they rob Obama of appointing one.
