Atlanta,GA -- Researchers have developed a strategy to capture,store and eventually recycle carbon from vehicles to prevent the pollutant from finding its way from a car tailpipe into the atmosphere.

It is obvious preventing CO2 from an external combustion engine is fairly easy - the power plant does not move, and could be located below ground. Capturing and trapping exhaust from a moving power plant is harder.

Of course, I remember smog, and about 1970 the catalytic converter appeared, burning the exhaust until only CO2 and H20 were left.
