Thieves smashed the window to break in and then gutted the property for its copper pipes -- a crime that has spread across the United States as the economy slows and foreclosed homes stand empty and vulnerable.

It's actually very believable Joycey, and although copper prices have been higher, it is currently at $3.60 a pound which is a good price. (Up
a dime today.)

I didn't like the inference that scrap "traders" are so willing to buy
stolen merchandise. By and large, the scrap metal industry is made
up of very hard working honest people. The majority of purchases are industrial. "Walk in" trade is a very small portion and is almost done
as a courtesy.
