Oh for Cotten Picken and PEET SAKE!!! YUCK! Yes I am happy about REP..Moran who introduced an amendment to the proposed agriculture bill to make sure commercial horse slaughter in the United States remains ILLEGAL...(WHAT???? IT STILL GOES ON!)

Now for what really YANKS my LEASH...this was accepted by the committee 24-21...WHAT THE #!#! is with that???????? Don't any of these POLITICANS have children??? Don't any of them care what is going on??? Or are they all paid off and having Horse for supper???!! This is really upsetting, YEP, gone over the top Penny on this, but our horses have suffered way to much...Letters going to all of my Politicans here in California, as well as the President...YA think he cares???? This has to STOP IMMEDIATELY!!!! Just sobbing cause I am so MAD! Now it has to go to the HOUSE on June 15th! Yet another VOTE! FARMS and other people are always going to lobby against these horses...WHAT???????????

No Points for me commenting on this...but I have extreme anger over this since the USA is sadly dragging their feet and Ken Salazar is a BOZO!

Sorry, star quota. Yes, Marilynn for cotten picken sake and bloody hell. I had to read that article, plus two others just to figure out what the devil was going on. I tell you what riles me to no end, is my Reps and Senators select what they respond to (always automated) but they don't even respond to the ones about wildlife, I think once, one of them did. I will say this, blew me out of the water, I got a very personal email back, even written in green ink from some Florida Senator (can't remember his name) signed "Yours Truly" and "God Bless" He was all for the animals....smalll, small hope. He made my day.

The appointing of Salazar to his position was such a miserable mistake! Obama has accomplished a
great deal, but not yet in the areas most important to us.

Marilynn

Think "CHEAP FOOD" .........it helps you understand the "WHY"

When consumers demand clean ethically raised food and are willing to pay the price for the same IT WILL BE PRODUCED!

Thank you Penelope for sharing this, one painful subject for me because I love horses. On the other hand I think animals should have the compassion of humans regardless of any country, they should be tread right because they are existing beings. When I think of the way horses are tread in Mexico my blood boils with anger and desperation.

I thank all of you fro your compassion and caring for our wild horses. marilynn, you go girl!!!! Getting mad and doing something about it is the only way it will be changed. We must follow Madeine Pickens and Save The Mustangs, Mutang Preservation group as well asn the Cloud Foundation. Write the jerks in Washington, who ignore our wishes and only seek to benefit themselves, best health care at our expense and want to end Medicare. I am hot about this also. Please folks get riled, Marilynn is right, Constance and Nancy, sickening as it is we have to get mad, Salazar must go. If it takes Obama too so be it........We do vote!

As a non US citizen I cannot contact any representative on this issue. Why don't the radio/tv/press give this nationwide coverage? It's YOUR tax dollars they are using. I have written to President Obama via the White House website 2 times on this issue but have never had a reply - surprise!

Americans....you must PROTEST LOUD & CLEAR about this shame.

It also concerns me that horses destined for human consumption must be clear of certain medical issues and medication. Where are the controls on this? (At the end of the day I could say: bad luck if you get ill from eating these magnificent beasts. Don't eat them.)

Shame, shame, shame.

Bloody hell is right. Someone should be developing a population control program rather than spending time and $ on arguing.

I absolutely detest horse slaughter. I saved my horse from a feedlot. He is a big sweetheart and I love him, but he is afraid/wary of anyone he doesn't know. It really needs to be successfully stopped in the US, and they need to ban the export of horses to other countries for slaughter.

It really makes you shake your head & wonder....there's not enough "food" animals in the world already?? To satisfy our bottomless guts, we are willing to send our beloved horses to a terrifying, agonizing end that is a slaughterhouse! If that weren't bad enough, there are now STUPID, BRAINLESS, IDIOTIC FOOLS that want horse slaughter to start back up in America!! I hope EVERY single one of them drop DEAD, or die slowly & painfully from eating highly toxic drug filled "horsemeat"!! Why did this amendment pass with so little support, are those we put in office too scared to stand up for something that is so morally wrong? Have they no spines or backbones?? This should have passed with an overwhelming majority! People think they can just turn their heads & look the other way, & everything will be alright! America & the rest of this world scare the hell out of me, & I'm VERY worried what things will be like for my daughter, & yours, & all the children on earth. The ONLY way to stop this barbaric cruelty, is to DO it OURSELVES, take back what is OURS, &, that includes our government!! Humans are the ones who need "population control", & MAJOR mental therapy! This is only due to money, greed, bloodlust, throw-back to cavemen mentality, & the sickening "thrill" of doing something "different", or, taboo!! SHAME on humanity!!

One more short note, Obama & Salazar do NOT care about the horses, wild or domestic, or, about what we say or want. That is a FACT. They ALL play "follow the leader", instead of BEING the leader. Unfortunately, I've run out of politicians to "write to, or call", all in my state "follow the leader", that's their favorite "game". They are always against what we want, & they cite any number of lame excuses to back them up. Anyone up for a "revolt", a "Boston tea-party", or just a plain old "over-throw"????

I remember back in my school days, we were eating our shool lunches in the cafeteria and they served us some kind of barbeque meat...it was good until a classmate told us it was horse meat!! Immediately everyone siad: "Ewwwwwe!!" and started pushing their plates away...the thought of eating a beautiful horse was more than my girlfriends ad I could take!! But the boys rared back in their chairs, with smiles on their faces and told us they'd eat it. Whether it was true or not, I don't know, it was just the THOUGHT of me eating horse that turned my stomach. I 'll survive the rest of my life just fine without eating "Mr. Ed," thank you!!

Sadly the US of A has been lacking for years already - they are incapable of leading or being at the forefront for animal or planet conservation, they're too busy lining their pockets at the expense of the people of their nation!!! But yes, we must never stop fighting these disgusting 'issues'!!!!

Sound unreal these magnificent and intelligent animals are used for human consumption. Whole world must support a ban on horse slaughter. Thank you Penelope and Marilyn for sending this news to me.
