In the 1,700 dunam area, E2, beside the Palestinian village of Nahla near Bethlehem, the State of Israel is stealing Palestinian farmers’ private lands in order to turn them over to settlers. On these lands an enormous settlement is being planned, which will block Bethlehem from the South and will hurt any chance for peace between the peoples.

We, Palestinians and Israelis who desire peace, and our supporters in the international community, ask the European Union and the European Commission to demand that Israel nullify its declaration of E2 as “State Lands”, so that the lands would revert to their rightful Palestinian owners.

We ask the European Union and the European Commission to notify the State of Israel that any settlement activity in E2 is totally unacceptable, and would lead to extremely severe consequences.

Noted signed , tanks Jess b for posting.
All settlements are ilegal .
The real problem is the support of US to the IDF which encourages The IDF to act as what he wants and be over the law,
The real problem is the occupation and it must end by that settlements will not be built and the land will not be sto;en from its owners and this needs the support of every one in the world.
Thanks Angelika R for your suggestion and statment ( We ask the European Union and the European Commission to notify the State of Israel that any settlement activity in E2 is totally unacceptable, and would lead to extremely severe consequences." ) Do you think The EU will be able to do so as far as US is backing up the IDF??? I hope so

Thx Abo. As my comment above says "what a joke.." I meant to express that this wording of the petition is quite insufficient. You ask " Do you think The EU will be able to do so as far as US is backing up the IDF??? I hope so "
No, not much as the pressure needs to come from the EU member states via their Brussels parliamental representatives and sadly, most still follow the US line. The EU has long condemned the continuous settlement buliding,-with no avail as we can see.
However, what the EU and EC can and are doing, is increasingly push for BDS which might be the most effective if not only tool to bring Israel to change. And lately, especially after the recent slaughter in Gaza we have been seeing more and more EU countries' own initiatives to join BDS movement.

Thanks Jess, I came too late - the petition was closed :-(.

Frankly ... I would have loved to sign although ... have there ever been consequences when Israel decided to steal yet another piece of land from the Palestinians? No - so why should it be this time any different?

Anyone who still can't see the pattern of fortifying this "Matrix of Control" called settlement is beyond help!

But yes - we always have to remember that it is the Palestinians who don't want peace and that Israel has nobody to talk about peace ...

Oh Ros ... I don't really know if that would be something "to look forward to" ... remember was it Einstein who said this? - paraphrased: "I don't know with which weapons WWIII will be fought but I know that WWIV will be fought with clubs and rocks" or something like that. It sure will not be nice.

By the way - you may want to have a look at http://www.care2.com/news/member/558572678/3800495 - I just put this in under "Israeli Embassy Warns Ireland Will Fall Under Islamic Influence". Found it by sheer accident when I was looking for something Ireland related. Despicable to say the least ... but nothing new really either ...

Palestinians look for peace and want peace but the IDF used to put obsticles and settlements is one of the main obsticles. and the last time the IDF refused to set free the 4 group of prisoners which already agreed to between the IDF and THE PA.
The IDF threatened the PA to stop the peace talks if the unity of Palestine occures and did as the unity happened .
these are the latest prove that the IDF do not want peace... and above all the IDF refused the ARab countries initiative for peace ..
Building settlements is stealing the Palestinians Land and the building of the seperation wall are one of the main obsticles for peace and above all the occupation.

I'm too late - petition closed. Israel is the real criminal; why does America not stop the Zionists injustice ?! The least we can do is to boycott Israel (money talks, you know).

Israel announced on Sunday a land appropriation in the occupied West Bank that an anti-settlement group termed the biggest in 30 years
I'm not sure if that is another area or referring to the same as the petition, I wasn't able to locate Nahla on the map

It looks as if the Israeli government has taken this action in revenge for the slaughter of those three schoolboys by Hamas savages.
If this is the case they won't have died in vain.

To create facts on the ground in order to avoid any peace agreement or solution, any excuse/"justification" is welcome ..and the speedy steps toward a Netanyahu-favored one-state solution -IF nay- are quite obvious. Stan's observation is correct regarding Israel's official explanation/excuse and that would again be collective punishmment, another clear violation of Geneva Convention in their long- standing tradition of violations of international law.

Ros, we're seeing all over again just how "they are stopped"- nearly the whole world, definitely the US and Europe have been voicing strong criticism about this latest huge land grab-and that's about all, too.
I do wonder how Abbas's new peace plan will play out, we'll know more after the talks now between Erekat and US DOS and still more after Sept 7 and the Arab League's ministerial meeting..

Thanks Parsifal for the link to the NYT op-ed:
"The current escalation in Gaza is a direct result of the choice by Israel and the West to obstruct the implementation of the April 2014 Palestinian reconciliation agreement. The road out of the crisis is a reversal of that policy."

No, Stan is NOT quite correct as his(although correct) statement pertains to the land grab of which I posted the link above.
The petition however, was for a different piece of land as is clear now. They were talking of 1700 dunams and not these new 4000 in Gush Etzion.
