It would be difficult for any mother to endure the death of their children, but in the circumstances within the Middle East, I'm sure, even harder still.

Thanks Jess - but I don't quite understand this. On Aug 14 Haaretz reported that she died too! "Two weeks ago, a house in Duma near Nablus was set ablaze, killing a toddler, his father and seriously injuring the mother and another son. The mother later succumbed to her wounds." I put the link to it in one of Sam's threads. Re-visiting the Haaretz link ... the article is modified, some paragraphs taken out (incl. the one in quotation marks above) and it's all a bit different. Obviously they reported too fast ... but it would have been nicer if they would have put in a correction or at least a note that the article has been edited.

Well - given the condition Riham Dawabsha is in ... I wish for her peace and no more suffering.

Thank you for this sad news.

How shameful and unbearable these crimes are.

This article was published a week ago, but it is strange that there has been no update since the (edited) Haaretz report. An attempt to "keep the calm" given the anger about the event and its already high human cost when the father died??

So very sad ....
And the villagers live in fear - always a potential trigger for violence
Saved by chance: The other Dawabsha family

Eleonora - not only Haaretz where such sad news about Riham was reported. I heard it on the French news a few days ago - but only a couple of times, with mention of the challenges facing the 4 year old orphaned son still alive - then nothing more.

Thanks Evelyn for confirming that I was not day-dreaming. Now ... who said what exactly about Freedom of Press and Censorship ...?!?!?!
