Laura, thanks for posting this. I watched Keith Olbermann's special report and his comment at the end was fantastic. I went to his website so I could post it but they hadn't put the whole show on yet. They only had snippets.

The sheriff of Pima County is a very wise man. Stop all the hatred and violence. It does our country no good.

Sarah Palin, whose website put and today scrubbed bullseye targets on 20 Representatives including Gabby Giffords, does not repudiate her own part in amplifying violence and violent imagery in politics, she must be dismissed from politics === I could not agree more. This amplification of hatred and putting a bulls eye and cross hairs of a gun on a state and then a lot of people are a murdered is not a coincidence. All of those who preach hate and fear need to stop. I hope this is the end and not the beginning of things to come.

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. "Democracy" is based on lies to protect the rich. What is a lie or a little violence between friends?

Sarah shouldn't be arrested, she should be interred in a psychiatric hospital. The woman is mad. (and so is anyone who takes her seriously :-)

Violence and threats belong nowhere, not in politics, not in any life of any human being. People who put crosshairs on animals and on people, such as Sarah Palin does, must be stopped. She is the ultimate example of how out of control killers can become incrementally. She thinks all of this is funny and never ever stops to question herself and her thought process and her actions. She is a hypocrite and a great danger to us all. Anyone who admires her or agrees with her must examine themselves and research other ways of thinking an perceiving.

"Democracy" is full of violence and threats. If you don't like the rich getting richer you will be threatened with violence. The corporate gods tell me so. After all, greed is the word of the day.

I just pray that Congresswoman Giffords, makes a full recovery...I just wonder how fast Sarah Palin, and Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh, Sharon Angle, and all the nuts in the Republican Party, and especially the Tea baggers, try to run, and cover their asses from this tragedy? I would point the finger directly at them, for what happened today...Their hateful language, and putting bulls eyes, on people have finally caused some nut to do the unthinkable...But knowing what cowards these people are, I doubt anyone of them will apologize and take any blame for this scum bag, who shot the Congresswoman, and the other people who were wounded and killed today...I'm really looking forward to hear their whiney excuses, and to try to run as far away from this as possible...Well, all your hate filled comments and stupid actions, has finally caused carnage, and death...I hope you are proud of yourselves...

One can not blame this on anyone other than the "sick" person who performed this horrific act! Pushing blame on those only exercising their rights to free speech will only create an environment for other horrific acts.

Want to push blame, start at the "cause", not the symptom or it will only continue to worsen.

Calling someone a target and other violent expressions have nothing to do with free speech, because it sets up the atmosphere for such crazy actions. I would hope that this is the end of Sarah Palin`s career and others as well, but I fear it will not be. People are still buying this left/right paradigm and do not see that the puppet masters behind the scenes are always the same.

Agree, of course the person who did it is guilty. But we do not exist in a vacuum, there are connections between what seems to be acceptable in a society and what is happening in it. Freedom of speech does not support the idea of calling for violence towards others.

Well, Carrie, you're entitled to your opinion, but if you think that those people I mentioned in my earlier comment, aren't partly to blame for what happened yesterday, because of what they've said and people like $arah Palin putting bulls eys, on people, then you need to pull your head out of the sand...They may not have pulled the trigger, but what they've said and did the past few years, basically put the gun in the hands of that sick bastard who did the shooting...They yelled fire...And someone did...

■ Conservatives Want to Kill Barack Obama: “I really think there are conservative broadcasters in this country who would love to see Obama taken out.” (Ed Schultz)

■ Conservatives Are Terrorists: “Do you not understand that the people you hold up as heroes bombed your goddamn country? Do you not understand that Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly are as complicit of the September 11, 2001 terror attack as any one of the dumbass 15 who came from Saudi Arabia?” (Mike Malloy)

■ Conservatives Want You to Die: “If, in fact, the GOP doesn’t like any form of health care reform, what do we do with those 40 to 60 million uninsured?...When they show up in the emergency room, just shoot ‘em! Kill them!...Do we have enough body bags? I don’t know.” (Montel Williams)

■ Conservative Congresswoman Would Have Liked the Holocaust: “[Representative Michele Bachmann is] a hatemonger. She’s the type of person that would have gladly rounded up the Jews in Germany and shipped them off to death camps....This is an evil bitch from Hell.” (Mike Malloy)

■ Dick Cheney Eats Babies: “Cheney, by the way, looks very ruddy. I couldn’t get over that. Like, he must have feasted on a Jewish baby, or a Muslim baby. He must have sent his people out to get one and bring it back so he could drink its blood.” (Mike Malloy)

■ Dick Cheney Should Die: “He is an enemy of the country, in my opinion. Dick Cheney is an enemy of the country....Lord, take him to the Promised Land, will you? See, I don’t even wish the guy goes to Hell, I just want to get him the hell out of here.” (Ed Schultz)

■ Rush Limbaugh Should Die: “I’m waiting for the day when I pick up the newspaper or click on the Internet and find that he’s choked to death on his own throat fat, or a great big wad of saliva or something, whatever. Go away, Limbaugh, you make me sick.” (Mike Malloy)

■ Michele Bachmann Should Die: “So, Michele, slit your wrist! Go ahead! I mean, you know, why not? I mean, if you want to — or, you know, do us all a better thing. Move that knife up about two feet. I mean, start right at the collarbone.” (Montel Williams)

If the establishment media were really interested in cleansing the airwaves of hateful rhetoric, they would not confine their criticism to conservative hosts. Instead, they would — and they must — make an equal effort to expose the nastiness that runs rampant on left-wing talk radio. Unless and until they do, they are participating in an act of journalistic hypocrisy.
