Signed and shared. I have no idea how much a petition might mean, this has become as tangled as Clancy novel, but sadly the characters are not fiction. Thanks Angelika.

since our new grand coalition govt. was formed and announced yesterday, we also had news that they are currently working on(with pressure from the SPD /sociali democrat party) on some contract or deal with the US admin including the demands for a list specificly stating all heads of state who are being evesdropped and spyed on. alledgedly Obama is said to have responded "hel'll think about it" and will get to it early next year.

Kit, once you allowed that by (perhaps in error?) clicking the button for FB share to submit a comment here, everything will go there.

I practically do not use my FB account-just occasionally share some imprtant petitions and immediately log out again, wouldn't know Kit. They changed so much there since I first joined I'd have issues operating it anyway..
Think you just need to click the "comment" link to enter something.-?

You have probably heard the latest news that allegedly the NSA has offered him amnesty IF he in returns his material taken from them. Rumors, that are already disputed and DOS has denied this deal. (also more here

You do realize this would create a diplomatic nightmare for Germany as it requires breaking the extradition treaty between Germany and the USA. Plus. he is being charged with a crime, not for political reason. It seems that if Snowden has testify in Russia then you will most likely have the information you want, and he doesn't get his favorite tortilla chips.

Really? From Spiegel online at:

"By seeking to question Snowden, the German government is also buying time for itself in the asylum debate because bringing the whistleblower to Germany to testify would be a horror scenario for the current government as well as the future one. Already tense relations with Washington have fallen to a low point in the wake of revelations the NSA spied on Merkel. And government sources have warned that those calling for asylum for Snowden are opening up a hornet's nest for German foreign policy.

There are also prickly domestic considerations. The United States issued an arrest warrant in early July against Snowden that could ultimately result in his extradition from Germany. The situation could quickly grow far more complicated if Snowden were to enter the country."

Or would you prefer the Telegraph at

Perhaps there is a reason 21 countries rejected the idea and only 1 accepted his request? And might I remind you of what the original rejection was for? "Germany can take in "someone suffering political persecution but not someone sought on criminal charges," he told Bayerischer Rundfunk radio on Tuesday. "(Snowden) is not wanted because he is a member of a political opposition in the US or for racist or religious reasons but because the US accuses him of breaking the law." [, July 22nd]

But best of luck in your actions.

John S- it is not of major relevance to hint to old articles/opinion pieces from summer, especially not now after even that court rule stated the unconstitutional nature of NSA's activities. Less so now with his new application to Brasil. As for your and many others' assessment that he is NOT persecuted for political reasons fortunatey the wider world community knows better! and all are just SICK of the so called US justice system being totally screwed and bent at will.

Ros- firstly, I don't even kn ow about any 'translate button'-what am I missing here? lol-and sure, we know about Rupert's other troubles..and NO-our media is NOT owned by him-thanks goodness! :-)
Much suspense and interest now going on after that panel's assessment on things-anticipating just what the pres will decide and say in Jan about all of this...if he opposes THEIR view it would mean major disaster for him!

WOW Ros-that was a ton of very interestng info there, thx so much! As for our govts reaction-we'll have to wait and see. merkel herself is quite inactive, silent, reserved about the issue, too much puppet-on-string to US. but our new cabinet and opposition parties will not take it lightly and have taken steps for more investigation and demanding responses and changes from US authorities, they've already formed some committees.
The asylum thing is off the table currently-so let's wait further developments.
As for Takis(Dimitris-may i call you Takis?) -yeah LOL- LOVE HIS COMMENT-if he really did that ;)
