Police Confirm Cats in Northwest Dallas Were Strangled Before They Were Severed
By Robert Wilonsky in Crime and Punishment

As I was leaving the house this morning, I was greeted by Senior Corporal Kimberly Crawford, a detective in the Northwest Operations Division and the lead investigator in the neighborhood cat killings. Crawford's out canvassing the area and questioning antsy neighbors, who've taken to patrolling the alleys late at night. Crawford doesn't know who killed Bill and the other cat, since identified as our next-door neighbor's cat Pepper, but she does know how they died: At least one, Bill, was strangled before he and Pepper were severed with "a sharp blade," said Crawford. (Pepper's front quarters still have not been found.)

Investigators know this because, contrary to what the police report said Monday, neither Animal Services nor Sanitation picked up the bodies on Monday. The neighbor who cleaned up the scene before kids got home from school Monday still had the bodies bagged behind her house, and the DPD collected them Wednesday morning. Crawford says a veterinarian examined the bodies to determine the cause of death. As we noted yesterday, the DPD has taken over the investigation of citywide cat killings, and an Animal Services investigator will work closely with detectives. After the jump, CW33's report about the murders and mutilations that aired last night.

Those poor cats. Being killed in such a dreadful manner. They didn;t even deserve to die yet. They had the right to live to the full extent of their lives.

I know what I'd like to do to whoever is killing those poor cats.....but it isn't legal.....whoever it is should suffer the same fate as those cats......

Horrible, horrible, horrible, Raffi. I have family in Dallas and yes, they own cats and yes, let them out for brief periods. They usually stay close to the house and it is in a very good neighborhood but this just shows you the danger!!!!! There are sick people in this world andd it only takes one!

I also remember a case about six months ago. I believe it was Plano. The crime sounds very similar. The lady found that her cat had been severed and placed in her neighbor's mailbox. I feel so sorry for these owners!

I hope someone comes forward with information. The horror of this is that the person or persons could be anyone.

I think you will know my responce by now! Hang the perpetrator by it's rude parts and you ladies can snip away at thewith my rusty blunt scissors! Glad to see the police officer investigating this crime is aware of the likelihood of it escalating to human killing! No wonder mental health workers are not worried about their job security!

People who show a disregard for animals often in later life tend to show the same callous disregard for their fellow human beings.I hope this idiot gets the book thrown at him.
