CHEYENNE -- A plan to give the Wyoming Livestock Board an alternative to selling abandoned horses is getting stiff opposition from animal welfare advocates. And it is coming even before the new law goes into effect July 1.

I love Wyoming's beauty and would probably live there if it weren't for Wyoming's politics and attitudes. Is this a friend of Sarah Palin's, by any chance?

WE have updated the article with an email from Sue Wallis, herself. Warning: If you love companion animals you might not want to read what she has to say.

Im just so sick of tired of these people~what the *hell* is wrong with people these day. what is the point turing those innocent beautiful horses in to slaughter's house? This is not the way to solve the problem.
If they can't take care of those horses, then let them be free! It's better than killing those animals~
and what's so good about eating horses? IT JUST MAKE ME SO SICK! It's like you are eating your own family~
Those people who eat horses..will end up in *HELL* for sure! I will pray for that!! I just CAN NOT TAKE THOSE PEOPLE ANY MORE~ JUST SO DIGUSTING!!!!!!!!
(LEAVE THOSE INNOCENT BEAUTIFUL HORSES ALONE!) STOP KILLING THEM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunny: The problem with your suggestion of setting the horses free if people can't care for them is that the horses die of starvation. This is happening all over the country with the current state of the economy and with all US horse slaughter plants now closed. Horse rescue groups are full to capacity. I'd rather see them humanly euthanized than to face starvation.

I could never bring myself to eat horse meat, I have always viewed them too much as a companion animal. However that's not everyones' point of view. In this country, we generally feel that it is OK to eat cows, pigs, chickens and sheep. In other countries, dogs, cats, horses and guinea pigs are popular foods.

If you choose to be vegetarian or vegan, that's your choice. Human beings are omnivores and that's how I choose to live my life.
