This settlement expansion is a result of peace talks and Oslo.

You know what I`m done with Isreal! I realize they only have a small country, but if they need to expand because of population increase, start building some rafts in the sea! Between them thumbing their nose at the world and continuing to build on other peoples land, and slaughtering 400 animals in a Palastinian Zoo for no reason, they have become too ARROGANT!!
I don`t believe they want peace because that means giving up land. The Holocaust was a twisted piece of work perpetrated on Jews....who are now in turn perpetrating their own brand of hate on Palastinians.

The Israeli building in this area needs to stop. It only gives cause for more violence.

112 appartments is not much.

Besides, Israelis got absolutely nothing from Arabs for making a good will gesture, of freezing construction in the disputed West Bank. Why they keep this freeze is a great puzzle, Israelis are entitled to build in the Land of Israel.

Another propagandistic source used to forward incorrect information. The 112 units about which the arabs are complaining are not in the "west bank" -- they are within the Jerusalem City Limits.

Note that the author of the artcle wants to "tell Tel Aviv" to stop, another sly bit of arab propaganda, since telling Tel Aviv will do no good as it has no status other than as a large city. Ifg you want to tell the United Sates something, you don't "tell New York" or "tell Los Angeles," you "tell Washington." Therefore if you want to tell Israel anything, you would "tell Jerusalem" because that is the capital.

The Israeli government should be brought down by their own citizens. The people should NEVER let the power-hungry politicians go against the will of the people. Sure, many citizens are totally brain-washed, but many are not. And the one thing I am thankful for from the Obama administration is they're standing up to Israel's fascist BS. At least moreso than any past administration.

Having been the victims of attempted genocide, I find it UNBELIEVABLE that they now practice genocide -- the slow, drip by drop method. There is no excuse for their actions. NONE!

UN, US, EUR calling Israel to stop building settlments and its expansion, but it doesnot listen why??? because she doesnot want peace to exist, she wants to transfere the palestinians and thruo them out and take thier houses and lands.
Israel is refusing all the UN demands and acts because of the VITO support in security council.
All of the Middle east problems and state of unstability is due to BELFORE PROMIS AFTER the WORLD WAR.

Some 50,000 new housing units in Jerusalem neighborhoods beyond the Green Line are in various stages of planning and approval, planning officials told Haaretz. They said Jerusalem's construction plans for the next few years, even decades, are expected to

It doesn't surprise me that the Israelis are once again aggressing against the Palestinians again. What's worse is that much of their support comes from American foreign aid! SHAMEFUL! I call upon all politicians to end this nonsense and let Israel know that they must rely on their own means for defense. Moreover, they do NOT have a right to either the lands of East Palestine or the Gaza strip!

When I heard people complaining about Zionists, I thought they were being anti-Semitic, now I understand...I can see Israel becoming like Iran- more and more severe toward its' citizens-harsher and harsher attitudes toward other religions..diminishing personal freedoms.... history of Palestinians rapidly disappearing under buildings and parking lots...unconscionable

How about a map of Israel with dots showing where the Muslim Israeli citizens live? 21% of the CITIZENS of Israel are Arabs, living peacefully and just as likely to get blown up by the primitive random rockets lobbed into Israel by Hamas (and some few from Fatah) as any Jewish Israeli, Christian Israeli or Druze Israeli.

Israel has Arabic political parties, Arab members of the Kenesset (parliament), and Arab ministers of state. How many Arab countries have non-Muslims in their cabinets, or even allow non-Muslims to live in the country?

This report is so full of misinformation and outright lies but then it did come from the Palestine Chronicle so I suppose it would be totally biased.

Some of those lies have already been pointed out but some here either have not read those posts or just choose to ignore them so they can have their usual whinge or go off on another Israel bashing crusade.

What is happening here has nothing to do with theft or aggression or any of the other charges that some have made.

This project, slated for the hareidi-religious neighbourhood of Ramat Shlomo, (not Beitar Llit) had been on the table for more than three years.

There have been 1600 units approved for construction at Ramat Shlomo which is not occupied Palestinian land, it is Israeli land restored to the capital following the 1967 Six Day War and THERE IS NO CONSTRUCTION FREEZE IN JERUSALEM.

MORE OF THE SAME from these inhumane bulldozing, bloody thieves and bastards….

Hey Merv Gillepsie (and others)

(1) It’s okay to build more settlements because it has been ON THE TABLE. What the hell does that mean?
Because I plan something I can later do it?
building there? Why are you doing this? What are your motives?
(3) Do you enjoy hurting the Palestinian people, taking away without regard, the hope and aspiration of the
Palestinian people? You do this just because you have the power to do it?
(4) What kind of value system do you believe in? What kind of God do you believe in? Is God on your side?

WOW…. unbelievable, inhumane and ugly...

Maybe this article is biased but there is no denying the Israeli government's absolute hate and destruction of the Palestinian people. The Israeli government is nothing but a genocidal force. Period. They have nothing but hatred in their hearts. Perhaps it's a reaction to their own horrible history -- maybe they feel they are getting even with all those dead Germans. Maybe they are so full of hate that they can't see straight. I don't know how else to explain their aggression.

Those living in the Mid-East have been fighting each other for THOUSANDS of years.....It is not up to any other country to tell them how to live or what to do...They have a need to work out their differences how ever they can....YES-I think war is wrong and STEALING LAND or anything from someone else is EQUALLY WRONG....As a Native American-I can tell you much about land theft and loss of language, culture and religion....But WE tried to stand against Superior War Weapons...AND WE WERE VANQUISHED....The U.S.A. should stay out of other countries' business!!!

Bob, there is no such thing as "East Jerusalem" -- this is not cold-war Berlin -- there is just Jerusalem, and it is the capital of Israel, and if the Israelis don't want to freeze xonstruction in their own capital city, who are you or any other foreigner to tell them otherwise?

East Jerusalem is occupied territory just like the rest of Palestine.

Bob, there is such a thing as East Jerusalem as you rightly point out. It is considered by the U.N. to be illegally annexed by Israel after the 1967 war. It is not an issue of construction as Israel apologists put it, it is an issue of a determined plan to ethnically cleanse Arab-Israelis out of Jerusalem. Arab-Israelis are denied building permits, their homes are confiscated and their properties are given over to Zionist colonizers. Counter to what the propagandists will tell you, Arab-Israelis are discriminated against in Israeli society at every turn.

Guess we'll see who is telling the truth and who the liars are when these settlements are built, now won't we! I wager the IDF and their puppets are the liars but I will eat my words if I am wrong! We shall see!

Whatever territory is gained in a war of defense belongs to the victor, the opinions of foreign non-participants notwithstanding, so the borders of Israel were actually legally expanded to defensible water boundaries at the Suez Canal and the Jordan River after it was jumped (again) by the surrounding countries.

Israel, in attempt to make peace (foolishly, IMO) voluntarily pulled back to its present undefensible borders leaving it only nine miles wide at the most populous midsection of the country, retaining for itself and legally annexing the Golan Heights for security reasons, and the united City of Jerusalem.

Returning the Sinai to Egypt after a regime change in the latter country has worked out reasonably well, and there is even tourist traffic across that border among the Red Sea resorts. Note that Egypt did not accept Gaza and maintains just a high a security presence along their Gazan border as does Israel. They don't anything to do with the Gazan Terroriet Entity run by Hamas, which was voted in by a majority in what was surprisingly an indisputably honest election.

However, pulling back from the so-called west bank was a big mistake because, unlike the Egyptian situation, there was and is no functioing government to ensure the security along that convoluted border.

Israel is apparently unable to see how they are inspiring anti-semitism because of their own behavior toward the Palestinians...all my life I defended Jewish people and always made sure my daughters knew of their sufferings and mistreatment..but to my shame, I neglected the other history of the ones they were displacing.
Please forgive me.....

i'm glad to see israel not giving in to world pressures. and what are you talking about 'occupied west bank' there was never a country palestine(just a mandate or colony palestine), till the state of israel was established. but still people are saying that israel 'occupied' palestine. israel is not displacing anyone. palestinians are welcome to become israeli citizens and they get all the same rights as jewish israelis. but no jew would dare live in palestinian land, they would be murdered. once a jew went into land occupied by palestinians, they would be murdered. and talk about displacing people, maybe you should know that over 850,000 jews were driven from arab countries, mostly in 1948, but there is no refugee camps for them today because israel received those refugees and integrated them into society. no one remembers them now.
