An anti-abortion activist who murdered one of America's few late-term abortion providers was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday in a case that galvanized both sides of the bitter U.S. debate over abortion.

That's better then the sentence he gave the doctor.

Always two sides to the coin... but unfortunately this doctor sowed destruction into his life and he therefore reaped what he had sown... this seems to be the law

Please don't demonize Dr. Tiller. He did not "reap what he had sown;" he was providing a legal medical service to women in need and was brutally and undeservedly murdered for it. Scott Roeder is not a hero, he is a terrorist, and I hope spending a lifetime in jail will force him to reflect on his actions.

I'm SO glad this Reich-wing Tool got Life in Prison! Whatever a person's Personal views are, Roe v. Wade is the LAW! If you don't believe in abortion, don't Have one!

The poor Doctor that he murdered will never be eligible for parole! I hope someone "welcomes" him when he gets to prison. This kind of fanatic deserves it.

he needs to be in prison for life.

That's not the worst of it. He shot Dr. Tiller when he was leaving church, where he was serving as an usher. A really bad choice of a place to kill someone. Monstrous comes to mind.

When this monstor is in prison, they should further punish him by giving him a sex change operation, then have someone rape him so he will realize the need for abortion.

Wake up, anti-abortionists! Abortion is one of the most humane actions that humans have ever practiced. Being granted exemption from this barbaric world is worthy of a celebration! No need to be shot or dismembered in war or by terrorists, no cancer, no school bullies, no abused unwanted child, protecting the earth and its inhabitants through limiting population growth, etc.. Abortion could be considered a selfless act of compassion.

As he planned, stalked and murdered another human being because he disagreed with the doctor practicing his legal craft, his life should be forfeited. Why should he have 3 meals a day, exercise, visitors, medical care, a job in prison, books, entertainment on the taxpayer dollar? Not only will the doctor never have that, what about the anguish his family is going thru?

As I picked up my newspaper this morning
off the front lawn ("The Kansas City Star"),
this was the only good news IN the paper, and it
was the front-page headline.
I wept as I read what the judge had to say to this murderer
prior to his (it's?) sentencing.
The best part of the story was the "Hard 50" part of the sentence,
meaning this pig, age 52, will need to serve a minimum of 50 years
before being considered for parole.
Carolyn Bridges,
trust me, he will be in prison for the rest of his life,
and may God be praised for that.

Thank you, Cal.

From the "Kansas City Star",
this is the part that made me shed tears of sorrow:

“Mr. Roeder chose church … where one would expect to be safe and let their guard down,” Wilbert said. “He intentionally killed Dr. Tiller in the very place that abhors violence — a church.

“Mr. Roeder shot and killed Dr. Tiller at point-blank range and left him bleeding on the floor of the narthex, where everyone exiting the sanctuary could see that horrific scene.”

That isn’t exactly true Pastor Tim, but I do appreciate your abhorrence of this despicable scum of the Earth.

This idiot was against killing 'potential' human beings, but it's okay to go ahead and murder a real one.
I am the produt of anti-abortion law. My mother was forced to have me or go to jail. She never forgave
me for this. I paid a high price for that facist law.
Jail is a good place for him, he'll have plenty of time to ponder his position and action.

Late term abortion - when the heart beats and the brain weeps knowing the head would soon be severed.
Predominated action to destroy a human by means of dissection. Who will answer for that murder.

As a resident of Kansas and an abortion rights supporter, I am relieved that one of the anti-abortion terrorists is in jail for the rest of his sorry life. Killing other people is no way to advance an agenda. If you are an American citizen and do not agree with the laws as they are, you use the electoral process to change the laws, you do not just go out and murder someone. As far as I am concerned, someone with this little grasp on reality needs to be locked away from other people to prevent just what happened. Killing a man in a church is unconscionable. Just because he followed a law that the killer did not agree with is no reason to kill him!

In my book, the man is a HERO!!! What about all the MURDERS the Dr. committed to those unborn children?!?! I'd give this guy a medal if I could!!! One good turn I say. Too bad you can only be killed once! I personally could not kill someone, but kudos to the people who do the things I, myself, do not have the courage to do! The electoral process is a joke!!! Our votes don't count, who fooled all you people, this is NOT a democracy! If there's money in it, a bill, a law, will be passed! That's Capitalism for ya!!! Who speaks for the rights of the unborn children??? They could be MURDERING the next Einstein, the next president, a great teacher, or scientist!!! You NEVER know, but who made you people GOD to make such a decision to KILL unborn children!???! I thought I was pregnant one time when I had been raped, by my own father, but I decided to have the baby and put it up for adoption if I could not bear it. There are people out there who desperately want children, who can give them good lives, but can't have children of their own. This is a no brainer for decent people.

I know that when a fetus is growing inside of you, Did you hear what I said GROWING !! That means this little life wants to thrive and this little one is innocent.Unfortunetly this guy played his card to kill the Doctor, he will have to pay either here or when he meets his maker.

I don't agree with murdering the doctor, any more than I agree with Dr. Tiller killing soon to be born babies. Dr. Tiller is a multi-murderer, yet he got away with it, because of a sick and demoralized society. Seems a total shame and disgrace that one murder ends up in jail for the rest of his life, while a multi-murders carried on. Aborption as a form of birth control is evil. How totally selfish for a woman to say she has a right to her own body, while killing the life that for her few minute's of pleasure that she took no precautions. There are very, very few cases that an aborption would be justified, which would be a medical issue. There are many people desperately wanting to adopt a baby. Ripping apart a baby in the womb, while it is screaming from the pain as video's prove does happen, is murder. There is a very basic law "All life has a right to safety". The right to live for a growing fetus (who is innocent with no voice to state their rights), takes precedence over a woman thinking she has a right to her body. "Thou shalt not kill". Is it the words 'thou shalt' that people don't understand? It means "YOU DO NOT KILL". It is biblical to kill a murderer - that has been judged by a court, which is a whole different discussion.

What is this abortion issue in the States??

Contraception is always better than abortion. But for teenage kids, who have no responsibility, the child is sentenced to life in misery, unless he or she is very very very lucky.
So, abortions during the first 8 weeks is very humane in my opinion.

All this about baby killing, murderers, etc - all the while that you are allowed to carry a gun and shoot someone in so-called self-defense.
Also, most conservatives, who have a real problem with ending the life of a "seed", have no problem with sending their sons and daughters when they are 18, to Afghanistan to get killed or maimed......

I still do not comprehend.... wish someone could enlighten me on the subject...

Late abortion should be outlawed. Only once the brain is formed can the (human in the making) feel any pain.
No brain no pain.
Women who do have abortions do not do it lightly and have to live with it.
To Collie Girl, you say a sick society, I say a healthy and evolved one. For probably the only time in history, women OWN their bodies. Not the men, not the government and not women like you.
As for killing, well, that's about the only thing we can be sure off. Humans will always kill other humans as well as anything else that moves.
And least but not last my girl, God gave us free will!! Who are you to want to take it away from us? A roeder in the making?
Tinally, to quote Yvonne White: If you don't beleive in abortions, don't have one.

i am pro-life, i never agree to abortions unless the mother is in danger. it's horrible to kill a little unborn child who has no way of defending itself . but killing abortion doctors is not the way to stop this.

I refuse to belive that there are masses
of women out there having sex like bunny rabbits and
aborting the occaisional "oops!" pregnancy.
Society uses far too wide a brush on abortion, considering
doctors, nurses and mothers to be heartless baby-killers.
Every abortion is an individual case, involving individual women,
their families, friends and (hopefully) the father of the baby.
I am also quite sure that by the time a woman arrives at the point where
she decides to abort her pregnancy, she has gone thru a living hell
of "Should I or should I not?"
People sometimes seem so amazed that pro-choice Pastors such as myself can
even exist, but my opinion is, in the words of Bill Clinton, that abortion should
be "safe, legal and rare".

Everyone has a choice; and if they're choice is abortion, then that's acceptable. What's not accepting is murder, even if you don't believe in abortion. This killer deserves life in prison.

I agree with Tara, and in a rape case,i may agree to abortion, but, this is not the first time anti-abortionists have taken things to a extreme, ever watch t.v. folks? I could not go to church either and be a Doctor that kills unborn children and claim to be a christian, but i don't think he should have been murdered over it.Let God be the judge

No one has the right to 'own' anyone! He did wrong and two wrongs don't make a right although I think Dr Tiller was helping women in life or death situations. On abortion at least when a fetus is a clump of cells and does not yet have a central nervous system it cannot feel pain or know the difference between life or death. Compare that to the living already born humans and animals especially the animals who are tortured and killed alive to feed the masses of overpopulated Homo Sapiens and the humans who are abused tortured, raped, burned etc. Abortion seems humane compared to all that.

so why do this ass---e get three squares and a roof for free for the rest of is live??why are scum like that rewarded ? a murderer like that should suffer the same fate as William Wallace. but no , were much to "civilized" for that so a murderer gets away with free room and board and a warm place for free , and were stuck with the bill . the really sad thing is that the politico are afraid to tackle this subject head on for fear they'll loose there $$$ making seat in the house or senate . oh some pay lip service to it but really go at it ? not very likely . is abortion right or wrong ? i know not , but i do know a womens body is her own !! and no man or law should be able to tell her what to do with it . thanks Cal.

David B.,
in my opinion, this guy gets three hots
and a cot for the rest of his life because
the death penalty is the government killing people
who kill people in order to demonstrate that killing people is wrong.

All you people who think this scumbag is a hero should have their heads examined. And a womans body is her own. A man can fornicate and pregnate woman and he can get away with it. No one owns his body, but a womans body is a different story. Every politician wants a say in her body. No way.
What I do not understand, We have killed men who later have been found innocent and here this scumbag is caught killing someone and he gets life.
He should have gotten the death penalty in my book.

Tom W (24)
Saturday April 10, 2010, 1:42 pm
Robert & Carmen S -
Consider the facts before thinking who's head should be examined ? We've never had the privilege of owning our own bodies.
Men don't control the situation - Society as a whole does.
Men don't have control over their own bodies. Unlike women, they are force drafted to fight an enemy of the country (although may not consider them an enemy) - made a hero and presented with a medal on return.

More than one liken to Scott Peterson in 1972 in Modesto, California, was convicted of the murder of his wife, Laci and their "Unborn Child"

Women scream, "He killed a woman and her unborn child."

Pro-Lifers scream Abortion kills an "Unborn Child" - Do you see any difference ??? POINT MADE.

Finally -
Do you consider a woman irresponsible or incapable of deciding an act of fortification, or in your mind is it always a rape case when a fornication takes place and only a man to blame.
