Constructing dams is not clean energy. The concrete releases enormous amounts of Carbon Dioxide when it sets and for many, many rears thereafter. This dam may produce as much Carbon Dioxide as coal power stations delivering as much electricity.
This really has to be looked into. there are non contacted tribes there who would be harmed enormously by contact with "civilized' people.

OMG GREAT GREAT GREAT!!! a dam(n) would also kill many living beings and pollute the water, streaming water is way too important. Just look at what they did in India .. fish died, water is posoined etc etc

Alexandra......So very true!!
These native people have lived & died in the
jungles for thousands of years.
Modern man could not possibly give them
a better life than what they already have.
Look at the mess we have already created
world wide through wars & over population!!

The only thing we could ever do for them would
be to offer medicine to obviously improve any
health situation.
If modern man was as dumb as he thinks
these natives are we would be a whole lot better
off in the long run.

Plant & protect Danny's trees for life in 2011......
Trees are the lungs of the earth........

Great news, except the article does not suggest that this is Permanent! It seems more a temporary hurdle that will be overcome. The site also offers a map of the MANY new dams that ARE being built. Twenty new straws for our environmental camels back...
