"Trees symbolize life, and we received our lives as a gift," said the Chilean miner. The rescue of the Chilean miners who were trapped deep underground for 69 days was watched and cheered by the whole world.

Awesome. What an inspiration. If more people were like these miners, the world would be a much better place. Thanks Cal.

What a wonderful treat for the miners to be able to plant olive trees in the Holy Land. It gave them great hope and increased their faith. I too pray for peace so that the whole world can become a paradise.

There is no doubt of the Chilean's good faith, and this is a very compelling and positive story. But it probably would have been more appropriate to plant them in Duma, near Nublus. "...the perfect location for the miners to bond with the soil of Israel." From an Israeli PR standpoint, perfect.

Google- settlers destroy olive trees

Only the latest of hundreds of incidents of illegal "settlers" destroying what is not theirs.

What's next, an article about Haitians building homes for Americans?

This is a beautiful gesture for Peace and the commemoration of a miracle. These men endured an intense experience and lived to tell about it. The world prayed for them and followed their story. We so need to hear about uplifting stories.

Sadly for the rest of the miners around the world, it seems that you need to be trapped for 69 days to be treated with respect and empathy. The horrible conditions of mines around the world is appalling. I hope the Chilean miners use their stardom to start a movement towards changes and regulations worldwide. All these men deserve to go everyday to work to a safe place, have a good salary for risking their lives daily and have full medical cover. I'm very sad for the thousands of miners who never had the chance to plant an olive tree because they died in mines and for the many others that continue to work in such conditions.

A beautiful and fitting conclusion for these miners to plant something that represents peace - so glad it was in Israel.

"You cannot currently send a star to Cristina because you have done so within the last week." Oh well, such is life. I'm sure we're all grateful that these guys survived the ordeal to 'tell the story' but I, for one, sincerely hope and pray that they will also remember to align some efforts towards better working conditions for miners across the world. There are just too many mines still in operation where people are working 24/7 under abhorrent conditions and these guys are in the perfect position to ensure that something is done about it.
