This is a tragic decision by congress. They've obviously read Little Red Ridinghood, but they seem to have little understanding of the importance of predators in maintaining the balance of nature. We all depend on the balance of nature.

The creator put the wolves here for a necessary reason...not congress. It is 'humans' need removal from the is their land long before we fell out of trees....

As is typical of the current Congress, they represent corporate interests rather than the people; as is also typical, this action is short-sighted, simplistic pandering to the cattle lobby and and the NRA. I hope there is a judge who can see beyond the next election decidin g this case.

I hope someone from this area will start a petition.

It has been proven repeatedly that eliminating wolves and cougars unbalances wildlife. In Canada several communities have been overrun by deer. Although I love them in my heart I know that balance is part of the bigger picture hunters and other trigger-happy administrators prefer to ignore. Their idea that wildlife has to be managed by man is outright stupid! I wonder who the world evolved without their "management..."

Judge Molloy does see clearly, the problem lies in the 9th circuit court and manuevering around that. "In his ruling upholding the congressional action, Molloy said it represented "a tearing away, an undermining, and a disrespect for the fundamental idea of the rule of law."

But he said his hands were tied by a prior Ninth Circuit decision which found Congress did not overstep its bounds when it amended law by implication rather than legislation" However, Molloy is working with Friends of Animals in bolstering more litigation along with the three Organizations mentioned.
Further problems with wolves are occurring in New Mexico with only 50 wolves people, only 50, and they will not be protected. Yada, yada, yada...plently of actions to take, even if feels so freaking futile.
And yes, Alexandra - plenty of anti-wolf sentiment. The human race doesn't like competing with other predators, and ditto what Jenny said.

The wolves should be relisted for at least 2 more decades, and the big-party pols that delisted them should be put on open season. Both Dummycrat and Repulsivan wolf-haters are useless scum who don't belong in our government.

Trapping again allowed in NM after Bill Richardson signed it in, the new Repuglicans under guv Suzanna Martinez xed it out! They are so infantile they feel they are somehow "winning" if they negate every single thing any Democrat accomplishes for life, for us, for Earth! What is WRONG WITH SO MANY PEOPLE? It is never okay to kill any sentient being, for any reason, unless one is absolutely starving and there is not real food to eat forthcoming!!!!

A small group of ranchers want to eliminate every animal in their way in order to have exclusive rights to federally owned lands to use as they wish. They don't care how many animals have to be killed or even if a whole species is eliminated. These are irrational, selfish dangerous people that must be stopped.

What's happening with wolves is a tragedy, being treated as public enemies as if they were threatening the existence of humans, but it all to make a few ranchers happy. It's disgusting the government attitude!

Thanks to all the caring people.

What I want to know is - WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE ??? The general dismantling of 40 years of environmental laws by Conservatives, with the cowardly acquiescence and direct help of the Democrats and President Obama, is in full force.

If wolves or any animals are to be saved, we must get out and do something about it. This publication is a first step. The next step is getting off the keyboard when possible and fighting. Start swinging blindly if you have to - animals do not have much time left !

Forget what the biostitutes, "managers", agencies, "experts" say - they are corrupted and do not have the lives of animals at heart. Become a force and an expert.

Congress should keep its nose out of scientific business. Why don't they spend some time doing something useful for the big bucks and medical care we give the for a change, like: restoring our civil rights, taxing the wealthy, taxing the corporations, supporting labor, giving themselves a cut in pay and medical services, passing Medicare for all, stopping all the expensive and useless wars, and cutting the Pentagon budget...for a start. I, for one, am outraged.

It is science that must be put first -- not politics, as is the case. Since when are politicians such experts in fauna? They had better run their states or country (better) and leave these issues up to people who know something about it.

As for farmers, they cannot see further than their pastures run and would most likely love to see all wildlife dead, as if there were no other cruelty-fee preventive measures. Farming should not go so far as to the endangerment of wild animals, but, with its intensity today, it brings destruction in various regards, which is a fact that goes widely unrecognized in these circles. Interestingly, it is not farmers who are restricted; instead, there is a war waged against wolves and other wild animals.

I strongly believe that, wolves, as other wild animals, need protection, and I am supportive of these conservational efforts. I am sentimental about wolves--the victims here. Massive killings has never been a solution and never will be. We share this Earth with many species, so are we going to kill off all of those that are in our disfavor? Because they dare to exist in a way Nature has designed for them? It is the art of peaceful coexistence that is still so missing and needs to be learned. Why mess up with a natural balance? Then hunters come saying deer are overpopulated, thus must be “culled“ -- and why is that, you think? What a hateful killing spree... Peace!

Nature does a really good job at taking care of nature without congress getting involved and making a mess of it, Stop killing all wildlife they all coexistence in a natural balance.

Hear, hear Fred Krohn. THIS IS A PURELY POLITICAL DECISION, NO SCIENTIFIC STUDIES. EVEN THOUGH OBAMA PROMISED IN DEBATES THAT SCIENCE WOULD BE USED. Congress is worthless, but if YOU do not get your butt out and VOTE (but even this will not help, only the brainless run for office) for someone capable of leading (what is that, we haven't had any for ages) and NOT following party cant. And please QUIT whining about taxes! We have the LOWEST TAX RATE OF ANY INDUSTRIALIZED, " FIRST" WORLD COUNTRY!

Who is to judge which life is more important.

The life of an animal who cares for his children and loves his pack.

Or the life of the destroyer?

The question does not need an answer.

Truth is often blatant.

These states need to loose ALL Federal funding. The killingof wolves is being done only for a few ranchers who don't want to watch over their cattle and clean up the dead ones. This is a disgrace. If these states don;t want the wolves, they should trap and relocate to an area where they are wanted. Again, NO federal funding to them.
