Anti-gay bigotry is just one piece of a larger picture of conservative fear and loathing of all forms of sexuality.

I wondered about this question myself. Why are gay people so ostracized by certain groups? I'm certain there are many gay conservatives who feel torn between their political beliefs and their lifestyle choice at the ballot box.

Most bigotry is caused by feelings of insecurity and inadequacy.

In the sanctity of marriage God states plainly in the Bible 'man for woman and woman for man.' God does not agree with people of the same sex having sex. It's in the Ten Commandments: 'Be fruitful and multiply.' TY Cal...

I am neither religious nor conservative,
so maybe I shouldn't comment.......?
While I agree with what my friend BarbCat
has said, I can go further and say that getting
up in the face of homosexuals, pointing a finger and
condemning them to hell is absolutely no way to be.
People like myself need to approach them with acceptance
and love, no condemnations, if we expect to reach them with
the message of love and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
Thanks for posting this article, Cal.
Maybe it will make a conservative think.

Interesting phrase, about "sexual anarchy." Just goes to show that the bigots equate heterosexuality and political power.

I suggest that if you can answer the question, "Why are some Christians fundamentalist literalists?," you will have your answer to the question in the title of this article.

BTW: There is neither . . . male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. - Galatians 3:28 (New International Version)

It's hardly surprising that religious people are obsessed with sex, gay and straight. The bible is full of stories about sex. The sex you're allowd have and the sex you're not. Sex with relatives, sex to produce babies, babies being produced without sex... Mix that with all the vengeance going on in there, it's a natural recipe for hatred of gays.

Since it's national banned books week, there's a couple of books I wouldn't mind seeing on the banned list...

Because the Bible states it is not right, and punishable. But then others say that there is no such thing in the Bible and that God loves all. I'm not religious but this sounds very confusing and maybe people are interpreting it how they want?

Personally speaking..I do not believe in the bible..It is written by many...and I do believe that much of it was self serving..and just the way some felt/thought things should be..
Politically speaking..there are those on both sides that are against gays..and those that live and let live..I find the judgment to be more hateful and wrong than anything else..

The message when those who say are quoted by "God" is extremely conflicting..God loves..yet hates..God accepts..yet condemns..It is a personal belief..just as everything is..So I think those that do disapprove of gays..will use God to back it up..and those those who accept won't..
I agree people will interpret it as they see it and feel about it..Which is pretty much what the bible is about..

With all due respect..be it Left..right..God..its all just an easy way to justify what one really feels/thinks..I have seen horribly hateful things said and done..all in the name of God..or politics..

Thanks Cal..

They're probably afraid that they can "catch the gayness".

I think they find gay sex sexually arousing and their subsequent feelings of guilt and self-hatred make them lash out at the gay community. The poor bastards need help.
