This is a rare up front tactic from the French. Is it because they know Obama has also committed troops to Mali?

Not worried. Every military on the planet(I am previous military) knows France is just about the worst there is. They are especially notorious for actually fleeing the battlefield leaving their allies (U.S. and Brittain) to stand and do the fighting. Then take the glory for participating in a successful win. Any U.S. (older) or British (older) soldier will tell you this is true.

I heard this as well where I worked. It was a NATO(North Atlantic Treaty Organization-involves all European allies of the U.S)military base secured by Marines.

All officers from primarily the U.K. and Germany, some darker skinned officers whose nationality I did not know and a few other uniforms I didn't recognize.

It's way overdue, but hopefully it will help. Islam is marching fundamentally unstopped, like the Nazis in WWII. A few courageous ones will try to do the right thing by standing up for the non-Muslims, but I'm afraid that France is for stepping out of the way and waving a white flag when the going gets tough.

Maybe as their seeing the deleterious effects of the Islamization of their own country, maybe France is finally finding its own cajones.
