First go to your doctor and ask for a sleep study. You might have sleep apnia. Forgetting, tired, foggy headedness are some of the symptoms. Also, not being able to concentrate.

i dont have any trouble sleeping and cannot do without my last cup of tea so caffeine must have the opposite effect on me maybe im different

I am sleep deprived due to a husband that snores like a lion. I've tried so many things, so far nothing works.

All my life I fell asleep instantly and slept undisturbed until my youngest son passed 16 years ago, since then, 3-4 hours at most, then fitful as long as I can stand it, then I just get up. Tried everything, have used a fan as white noise since the year I spent in Viet Nam, that still is part of the regimen, but no pills, no psychology, nothing works. I should just say sleep is over rated but it isn't, one of my fondest memories though. Sigh...
