Noted and thank Cal. New coal mines are coming online all time just look at Australia, the world is greedy for coal and governments will keep buying and selling regardless of peoples lives and health.

And China says that smog is good for you? All those spin doctors for the tobacco lobby must have moved there.

I guess the option was to live in abject poverty.

Not surprised. I flew over china once and I did not see the country. All I saw was greenish, greyish, brownish smog.

Coal should be replaced everywhere with the alternate energy sources. Wind and Solar. If we could produce a useful wind turbine that could produce electricity by resisting the wind instead of the type that uses the surges and prevents damage to equipment. We could sell them all over the world. Tell General Electric to stop the monopoly on wind turbines.

Tells you what value the Chinese government puts on its own people.

Noted. Makes you wonder about how the Chinese government thinks - do they really care about their own people if they have not taken steps to clean up the pollution that is now/will be devastating for generations of children/people? Is the issue of 'pollution' not in every country though? I see the way many animals are treated there so I guess this news should not come as a shock...
