The U.S. has its own large ivory trade that has not been adequately regulated

Grace is just talking. Recently I went to NY and saw in severaL seedy shops small ivory elephants, and Buddahs gong for $40-60. As for Obama's plan, like everything else, we'll wait....and see.

We've come to expect the absolute worst when it comes to China regarding anything animal---but it's a real shame to see the US come a close 2nd. in Ivory trade.

Shameful. If the West can't lead by example how can we expect the Asians to?

End all ivory sales. New and old.

I am surprised by this because the only Ivory it's legal to sell in the UK is Ivory that predates 1947.Ivory after this date is illegal and if found is destroyed. However some illegal trade does occur and when found is crushed and burned and the perpetrators punished .This is a despicable crime and the law needs to be enforced rigorously.
