> Dirty Secret: How Major Clothing Brands Are Destroying Rainforests...
-- Secret ??? - And as if there were ANY (big) business that is NOT Destroying Eaarth.

Fa$hion is a $ickne$$ -- in terms of the damage done down there with the really big ones like the NSDAP, the catholicChurch or Dow+Monsanto+Bayer -- to waste energy on such a destructive sickne$$ in times when humankind is in a dire crisis ( Climate Disruption, increasing global pollution => Cancer epedemic,... ) seems highly neurotic and criminally insane (to me, at least).

compare The Story of Stuff (2007)

" If human beings are ever to become free and to cease feeding industry by pathological consumption, a radical change in the economic system is necessary: we must put an end to the present situation where a healthy economy is possible only at the price of unhealthy human beings. The Task is to construct a healthy economy for healthy people. " -- Erich Fromm (1900-1980) in "To Have or to Be? A new blueprint for mankind" (1976)

" For the first time in history the physical survival of the human race depends on a radical change of the human heart..".-- Erich Fromm, ibid.

The fashion business has never been one to care much for environment, or human rights for that matter, and like all major corporations, the major clothing brands are about money and little else. So no surprise here then.

Noted. Thanks, Cal. No--they don't care. But, they should. In fact, there should be pressure on major clothing brands to take the lead in reforming this industry.

Why do we actually fall for all the fashion statements? The only ones who profit from it is the 1%. We all could make a big difference by just ignoring them.

Glad I never buy anything with rayon. Nearly all is cotton or a cotton- polyester blend. except shoes which are leather.

Big Fashion is so phoney and out of touch with reality and what is truly important in the world.

I doubt most models possess the intelligence to realize the reality; their vanity and greed is fueled and fed by a false industry.

Grazie Cal, firmato molto volentieri e notato come l'avidità di alcuni continui a sfruttare la natura, senza porsi il problema dei danni che provoca.

Just one more of numerous reasons to get clothes from thrift shops. Most of the clothes I have bought in the last several years have come from those. And they are just fine!
