After 500 years it's about time to dismantle these shortsighted and harmful myths, don't you think?

From reading, it seems obvious to me that early education is key here. And, it needs to be standardized throughout the US educational system. Native Americans ideally should make up a large part of a board that decides what is taught.

As Lona pointed out, we might think that 500 years provides ample time to dismantled race as class and privilege based on colour. In fact, if you look at European or Asian history ethnic groups are still trying to resolve biases and problems that stretch back much further in time. Women still do not have equal pay for equal work and many African-Americans fear the police in the U.S. The best thing that can happen for any group is for its members to keep working toward positive self-identification, educating its own people and all people. There definitely should be a great deal of course content on the cultures of Indigenous Peoples and their contributions to the development of the country both in the past and present.

❤️A very good article, I have book marked it so I can read it when I'm not so tired.I think that now we are in the 21st century. It would be a good time to stop being so bigoted and blinded by make believe facts that are a load of bunkum. These noble people deserve better and should be left in peace on their small piece of land to do as they wish and not be hounded by big bully oil companies who know only one thing and that is how to pollute the water ways and walk off after supposedly cleaning it up with deadly chemicals that only break the oil up into small globules that sink to the sea or river bottom and from there pollute the fish and do Goodness knows what to humans? All I can say is when the power of Love overcomes the Love of power. Then the world may have the elusive peace we all crave without bigotry.❤️

❤️Thanking you Cal❤️

worth looking around and finding Native Americans as your neighbors, fellow students, and colleagues. Listen to music from Arvel Bird and Jack Gladstone and Ed Littlefield -- Hear the mighty words of Winona LaDuke and Sherman Alexie. Thanks for posting this article!

Thanks Cal. Noted. We must always look at the source of the information and then evaluate the motives of the informers. We live in a very sick society...peace.

Demonizing someone or a people is the first step in getting your public to be silent or go along with the atrocities that will and have happened.

We're a tribal species...always have been. Tribalism can be good/helpful/instructive....or bad/disruptive/predjudicial. It all depends.
