General Motors says they're committed to 'diversifying away from petroleum.' I'm calling it GM's grand vision for U.S. transportation energy independence, they call it their 'Advanced Propulsion Roadmap.' Either way, GM plans is investing in new tech.

We need to end our dependence on foreign oil. This is a step in the right direction. When a vehicle does not use petroleum it really doesn't matter what the mileage is.

This is free-enterprise at work. The public has spoken no oil, and GM is listening.

GM has come around to understanding that they can no longer deny a problem that they have played such a large role in creating and perpetuating (and made a killing doing so). If the price of oil were to miraculously drop, this grand plan would go to the back burner quicker than a sexy Corvette can do 0 to 60!
