Doctors in Australia have carried out a pioneering procedure to treat chronic pain, fitting a permanent spinal cord implant which can record signals from the nervous system and adjust the strength of impulses sent to affected areas.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this Tracy. I printed off a copy to take to my rheumatologist. I've had chronic back/neck pain for 20+ years. Surgery is too risky and taking pain meds. every day is hard on the liver. Chronic spine-related pain is one of the most common and debilitating health problems. This could help millions of people.
