The EU has quietly dropped plans for stronger environmental inspections to tackle illegal trade in wildlife and toxic waste across Europe.

One major problem here is lack of consistency between the various countries, both within the European Union, and outside of it. Were every country to co-operative and communicate like adults, rather than squabbling adolescents, we might get somewhere
