I'm speechless. I'm sure there are a lot of better things we could be doing with mammoth ivory than making it into jewelry. Putting it on display for educational purposes comes to mind.

It should be banned to have any kind of ivory... mammoth's bones and other prehistoric animals should be protected.

Why do we insist on using ivory? For far too long trinkets and jewelry were the reason that these huge gentle beasts were cruelly killed. Now we want to use precious artificacts. Unbelievable.

Philippa P please explain how to put 60 tonnes per year of mammoth ivory on display for educational purposes.
Agnes W please explain how to protect an animal that became extinct in the last ice age.
Suzana Megles do you realize that these huge gentle beasts were "cruelly" killed thousands of years ago?
Please please all of you, what should be done with the tonnes of carcases that are constantly being exposed as the parts of the glaciers they were trapped in thousands of years ago find their way to the sea. Perhaps we should let them pollute the water and kill off a few more species?
Grow up all of you and read the whole article before you criticize.
