As America mourns the deaths of 25 miners at Massey Energy's Upper Big Branch mine in West Virginia one thing is obvious: penalties for violating mine safety rules aren't strong enough. Last year the Upper Big Branch mine had 458 safety violations

My friend Paola Ghidotti posted this action alert on her Twitter page which i saw after accepting her friend request.
Here is an example of getting the word out on a critical issue, which Paola initially found on where we are both members.
Prayers are rising for the loved ones lost and the loved ones left behind !
This tragedy could have and should have been avoided years ago!
Let's hope this never happens again!

You all know as well as I do that they will never pull those restrictions in mining, this will cut into their money laundries..Fourteen and counting I bet there are more illegal paper wipe in the very ground walls they work around
Pay Peter to Pay Paul ?
None of those People should have ever been aloud to work in any of those restricted areas knowing that the gases one day would well enough explode, they don't give a hoot about anyone in the mines, if they did none of these accidents would have been as detrimental as the ones that have been happening over the last 100 years.

Action taken. Coal mining is a dirty business, in more ways than one.

BIG BUSINESS-again-has the money to IGNORE FINES and SANCTIONS.....SO THEY DO!!ALL Big Business is "DIRTY"-whether in this country or Chinas' Coal Industry...As long as that MANAGER PUTS' MONEY into the pockets of the "boardmembers".....My mom dated a "coalminer" many years ago-we lived in W.Va. for a short time-I remember his "horror stories" sbout the UNSAFE CONDITIONS.......

This was a horrible tragedy. However mining can never be made entirely safe; gas, flood and subsidence are ever-present hazards, striking unpredictably and defying all precautions, all legal requirements. Miners are very heroic individuals.

The bottom line is always profits for the company, owners, shareholder! Never the employees, and if they complain too much they are replaced! All companies/corporation operate unethically since for them to profit, someone has to loose. Until, & not sooner is when we value & respect all forms of life, humans/animals alike this will continue to take place. Steal from Paul to pay Peter! It has become a dog eat dog world! We all make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give! And nothing happens in this world unless it was already planned out by our creator! May all souls that lost their lives so tragically be in God's dwelling eternally! I signed! Thanks Rosemary!
