This year's holiday gifts from the Israeli embassy come with a politically charged message: the occupied Palestinian territories are part of Israel.

Dermer is only the Israeli ambassador to the US, and only sending his gifts to Americans. If braggart Dermer is doing this of his own accord or if other ambassadors have been given the same instructions, is unclear. Two things are clear though: the BDS is obviously working because the only way to get rid of goods from the occupied territories is by giving them away, and presents is something to give to friends, so Dermer will only send his Republican chums some of the spoils. Neither the White House nor Europe will appreciate presents like this, they are not given from warm heart nor are they given in the Holiday spirit.

Grimly noted. Thanks for sharing, Sam. Darren, you're much too kind. Bibi and his corrupt administration should retire, alright: to The Hague! Ideally they'd have the company of most of the members of the USA's previous administration...

Nothing much to add to the headline ! and the first three comments here. Thanks Sam, haven't we waited for a Christmas message from that corner!
Be sure to enlarge the embedded pic to read the full message of Dermer's tweet. ;)
The´last para is the most noteworthy, it says:

"In response to this effort to cast a beacon of freedom, tolerance and decency as a pariah state, I have decided this holiday season to send you products that were made in Judea, Samaria and the Golan Heights. I hope you will enjoy them."
It would be nice if the PA would distribute such gift packs also, however, with a different note along with it.

Did we really need to wait for this guy to tell us that There's No Place for Christmas in Israel?

From above link: Extremist religious leader says there's no place for Christmas in Israel.

The leader of a far-right organization in Israel reportedly is calling for Christmas celebrations to be banned in the country where, according to the Christian Bible, Jesus lived, sparking outrage from religious groups who are demanding an investigation into his remarks.

Benzi Gopstein of Lehava wrote “Christmas has no place in the Holy Land” on an ultra-Orthodox Jewish website earlier this week, according to the Daily Telegraph and other Israeli media outlets. Gopstein also called on Christians to be expelled from Israel.

“Let us remove the vampires before they once again drink our blood,” Gopstein wrote.

Gopstein’s article sparked outrage from several religious groups who called on Israel’s deputy prosecutor to investigate the matter, according to The Telegraph.

“This statement was not made in a vacuum but in the context of many acts of violence against Christian clergy in recent years,” the Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism and the Coalition Against Racism said in a statement.

Lehava is a far-right Israeli organization and is widely known for its violent campaign against relationships between Jews and non-Jews. The group gained international spot light after an arson attack on a Jewish Arab School last year.

Gopstein’s comments come after suspected extremists hurled two smoke grenades into a Palestinian home near Ramallah Tuesday morning. The residents managed to escape unscathed. Graffiti was written on the walls of the home, including “hello from the detainees of Zion,” which refers to the people being interrogated by Israeli security forces on suspicion of taking part in an attack on a Palestinian family six months ago, according to The Telegraph.

The Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service, has come under fire recently over the detention of the Israel suspects, who are accused of firebombing a Palestinian home in July. The security service has been accused of torturing the suspects. Despite protests, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has backed the Shin Bet.

Lehava was founded as an organization to prevent the marriage between Jews and Arabs, according to the Times of Israel. The group quickly became attached with extremism and reportedly even patrolled downtown Jerusalem looking for “mixed” couples.

Approximately 160,000 Israeli citizens are Christian.

Do not feel so angry Sam, a new video of a Jewish Israeli wedding was released today. The guests at the wedding were dancing with knives and celebrating the death of a Palestinian baby who was burned alive
Truly shocking!!!

"The Israeli War on Christmas…and Christianity."

"Bentzi Gopstein’s call for ethnic cleansing of Christians and Palestinians from Israel mirror those of Trump here in America. Israel itself is lurching farther and farther toward fascism and outright religious hatred, if not war. "

Maybe people could burn the gifts instead?

Steve D (13)

I would also think that if anyone who received the gifts wanted to do the right thing and give the gift boxes to a Palestinian family they would not be allowed to because of the israeli import restrictions.
God (jehovah, yahweh, allah, jeasus, whatever) forbid israel does anything nice for Palestinians.

The answer, Ros, may be foud in Nutyahoo's such statement:
“It is also impossible to compare the scope of that terrorism with Arab terrorism. In the last month they [Arabs] carried out hundreds of attacks against us, and we saw just a few Jewish terrorist attacks.”
In other words, that's peanuts, well designated to encourage more...with little consequences.
At least as long as Nutyahoo insists to NOT inform the public of exactly what security officials are doing to the "suspects" and how they are proceeding with the prosecution. With the ongoing media gag order nobody knows IF anything is being done, other than having ordered administrative detention for some of them.

Who? A nobody ridden with religious bigotry, its not official Israeli Government policy.

Having raised the subject, remember that Somalia, Tajikistan and Brunei have officially banned Christmas to 'protect Islam'...

Sam H (410)
Friday December 25, 2015, 12:18 pm
I’m not sure why Islam needs to be protected from Christmas! Muslims love Jesus after all! All I now is that Jesus tried to reform a religion that existed during his time. So it was that religion that was threatened by Jesus’s reforms. And the moneychangers are no strangers to the student of history.

Picture the Dalai Lama, and the most of the world's "power-possessors" with their body-guards.

True, genuine spiritual / religious people don't need to HIDE BEHIND a gun or warfare or military.

Evelyn B (63)

Any Muslim who rejects Jesus ("Issa") is not an informed & sincere practicing Muslim - although they do not include a celebration of his birth on any particular day .... and certainly not the consumer-oriented circus around any particular date
Muslims Celebrate the Christian Meaning of Christmas

Mind you - we now have December 25th because this integrated well with existing mid-winter pagan celebrations ..... and by "substituting" Christmas for older winter solstice/ Yule celebrations (without having a conflict over celebrations) ... and we have adopted many Yule practices!!
So disaggreement over selection of a special date is understandable .... that was added for cultural more than religious reasons, anyway!!

Free Palestine! End the siege on Gaza!!
Let freedom ring!!

End the occupation of Palestine and the siege of Gaza, now!!
BDS, yes!

"The International Day Of Solidarity With The Palestinian People", Pretoria (4 December 1997}.

"I have come to join you today to add our own voice to the universal call for Palestinian self-determination and statehood. We would be beneath our own reason for existence as government and as a nation, if the resolution of the problems of the Middle East did not feature prominently on our agenda.

When in 1977, the United Nations passed the resolution inaugurating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, it was asserting the recognition that injustice and gross human rights violations were being perpetrated in Palestine. In the same period, the UN took a strong stand against apartheid; and over the years, an international consensus was built, which helped to bring an end to this iniquitous system.

We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians; without the resolution of conflicts in East Timor, the Sudan and other parts of the world.

Nelson Mandela
